A pair of devastatingly vampy reds from CND Vinylux

One of the few things I like about this chilly time of year is that I get to wear vampy reds on my nails. Believe me, I am a summer lovin’ fool but it is always fun to deck out one’s digits with a sexy deep shade. Considering all things Marsala (Pantone Color of the Year for 2015) Albany from Rpr Marketing Communications in New York was kind enough to send me a few bottles of CND Vinylux and some great design inspirations to share with you! I don’t have all the shades required to attempt these ornate designs, but I suppose one could play it by ear and use their own “like” shades for these looks. You know with nail art, sky’s the limit and you are only limited by your imagination. I wanted you to see two of these shades in all their glamorous glory. Today I’m sharing Masquerade and Crimson Sash with you. Then at the end of this post I’ll show you the “how-to” of some classy looks to try yourself!

Masquerade is described as shimmery deep wine. And oh my, the formula is aces! Truly a one-coater, but you can achieve a deeper tone with two.

I might mention that the CND Vinylux Weekly polishes are 5-free and meant to be used with it’s Weekly Topcoat to achieve the gel hybrid performance that can give you up to 10 days of wear. I did not test this for this post, I have to change my polish too often. I will say the topcoat is amazing, but I didn’t apply it for these photos. The brushes on these polishes are consistantly perfect for application, not too wide and very pliable.

Albany says, “Pantone recently announced Marsala as the 2015 Color of the Year. Described as “a naturally robust and earthy wine red,” the elegant hue is excellent for accessories/accents and flatters most skin tones. What better way to experiment with such a rich and full-bodied color than on your nails? CND’s VINYLUX® Weekly Polish collection includes a variety of Marsala-esque shades that are perfect for incorporating 2015’s Color of the Year into your daily look! VINYLUX® Weekly Polish is a two-part system consisting of a Color Coat that adheres directly to the nail, eliminating the need for a base coat, and Top Coat with ProLight Technology, that increases in durability with exposure to natural light. The system dries in 8 ½ minutes for a full week of chip-free wear!”

Crimson Sash is also a shimmery red with a bit more warmth that Masquerade. They look nearly identical in the bottle but don't let that fool you. It has the same perfect formula and application is, well, you could practically do it in your sleep. It is SO pigmented that one coat is enough but two deepens the tone even more.
