A pair of devastatingly vampy reds from CND Vinylux

One of the few things I like about this chilly time of year is that I get to wear vampy reds on my nails. Believe me, I am a summer lovin’ fool but it is always fun to deck out one’s digits with a sexy deep shade. Considering all things Marsala (Pantone Color of the Year for 2015) Albany from Rpr Marketing Communications in New York was kind enough to send me a few bottles of CND Vinylux and some great design inspirations to share with you! I don’t have all the shades required to attempt these ornate designs, but I suppose one could play it by ear and use their own “like” shades for these looks. You know with nail art, sky’s the limit and you are only limited by your imagination. I wanted you to see two of these shades in all their glamorous glory. Today I’m sharing Masquerade and Crimson Sash with you. Then at the end of this post I’ll show you the “how-to” of some classy looks to try yourself!

Masquerade is described as shimmery deep wine. And oh my, the formula is aces! Truly a one-coater, but you can achieve a deeper tone with two.

I might mention that the CND Vinylux Weekly polishes are 5-free and meant to be used with it’s Weekly Topcoat to achieve the gel hybrid performance that can give you up to 10 days of wear. I did not test this for this post, I have to change my polish too often. I will say the topcoat is amazing, but I didn’t apply it for these photos. The brushes on these polishes are consistantly perfect for application, not too wide and very pliable.

Albany says, “Pantone recently announced Marsala as the 2015 Color of the Year. Described as “a naturally robust and earthy wine red,” the elegant hue is excellent for accessories/accents and flatters most skin tones. What better way to experiment with such a rich and full-bodied color than on your nails? CND’s VINYLUX® Weekly Polish collection includes a variety of Marsala-esque shades that are perfect for incorporating 2015’s Color of the Year into your daily look! VINYLUX® Weekly Polish is a two-part system consisting of a Color Coat that adheres directly to the nail, eliminating the need for a base coat, and Top Coat with ProLight Technology, that increases in durability with exposure to natural light. The system dries in 8 ½ minutes for a full week of chip-free wear!”

Crimson Sash is also a shimmery red with a bit more warmth that Masquerade. They look nearly identical in the bottle but don't let that fool you. It has the same perfect formula and application is, well, you could practically do it in your sleep. It is SO pigmented that one coat is enough but two deepens the tone even more.

OPI Infinite Shine polishes, pt. 2

This is the second set in this 3-part series on OPI’s new Gel Effects Lacquer System, Infinite Shine which includes the Primer and the Gloss topcoat. I’m thrilled with how pigmented these polishes are. Today I’ll be sharing two more from the six on my shelf! To Infinity & Blue-yond and Indignantly Indigo.

This pastel blue, To Infinity & Blue-yond will look great this summer when my tan returns! And then there's this wintery indigo perfect for this winter season, Indignantly Indigo.

As I mentioned, To Infinity & Blue-yond requires two coats because the first one will streak, even though it's highly pigmented. The outcome is worth it!

Indignantly Indigo is that kind of blue that catches your eye and makes you go, "whaaa?! That is gorgeous! I want that!"

New OPI swatch series! Infinite Shine system, pt. 1

First let me tell you I will be presenting six polishes in sets of two (my goal is each post a few days apart). Along with this six out of 30 stunning shades, the Gel Effects Lacquer System includes the Primer and the Gloss topcoat. For 10-day wear and flawless shine, this is a superior system. By the end of this series, I will share with you my wear findings, but for now, I’ll be describing color, shine, application and formula. So lets get started! First to get the wear and shine guaranteed by OPI for this system, you really, really do want to include the Primer and Gloss.

Inifinite Shine Primer and Gloss topcoat are what sets this system apart.

I experimented, just for grins, one of the shades without the Primer and found application a bit streaky and on the thin side. I thought, hmmm, not too sure about this. Then I applied the fast drying Primer which dries to a satin/slightly shiny finish. It dries quickly so by the time you get to your fifth finger, you’re ready to apply your color. This is the part that astounded me. Application of the color was totaly different, and I might say, a dream. It went on smooth and less streaky, still required two coats (my experiment was with Can’t Be Beet). Dried medium time and I waited about 5 minutes before topping it off with the medium dry time Gloss topcoat. Superior shine and color. Brushes are typical of all OPI brushes. No issues whatsoever. Now let’s see the first two shades for the series.

Infinite Shine "Can't Be Beet" is so aptly named. Two beautiful coats of beet red shine.

I love beets with butter! And Can’t Be Beet is a dead ringer for beets! And it goes on like butter with the Primer underneath.

Here is the second for the series this week, Maintaining My Sand-ity.

Infinite Shine by OPI's "Maintaining My Sand-ity" is a nicely pigmented perfect sand creme. Of course, where there's sand, a kitty is sure to be nearby! ;-)

Same story. Maintaining My Sand-ity is a great formula. Oh, the name just made me want to have a bit of fun. For some reason I just pictured a kitty sitting on a pile of sand (no, it’s not cat litter!).

Maintaining My Sand-ity is perfect in two coats, as is this glorious beet red in Can't Be Beet.
