Zoya Winter/Holiday 2014 Collection is here!

Zoya says, “Wishes really do come true with this magical new nail polish collection for Winter/Holiday 2014! Zoya Wishes** is a densely pigmented assortment featuring both traditional and Magical PixieDust* formulas in coordinating color combinations that can be worn alone or combined into stunning combinations, no matter how you wear them, this collection delivers a fanciful way to celebrate the season!” And I believe it! Seriously, this assortment reminds me of wrapping papers with it’s silvery blue, sparkly PixieDusts*, visions of sugar plums and winter’s night black.

I love how Zoya designed these six polishes to compliment each other so well, and I can’t wait to get my juices flowing. But for starters, I’ll keep it simple so you can see the collection now.

First we have silky Haven. So plumy and rich. I used two coats here, no top coat.

Haven with Thea as an accent. Made for each other!

Thea, like Haven’s gorgeous sister! Two coats.

In love with Magical PixieDust* Thea. I paired her with Haven for this mani.

Here we have delicate Prim. Even her name is mild-mannered! Two coats, no top coat.

Prim is gorgeous and stand on her own. A tad tricky to avoid some brush marks, but that's the way it is with some shimmery pearls.

Nori, reminds me so much of sparkly gift wrap I love for Christmas. Two coats, no top coat.

I LOVE this Magical PixieDust* Nori. I really didn't care for it paired with Prim so I didn't use her for an accent.

Willa is dark and glossy, perfect! Two coats, no top coat here.

Willa. A PERFECT glossy, patent leather looking black. Application of both coats were perfect and it looks amazing with Magical PixieDust* Imogen!

Imogen is such a sexy blingy black. Be still my heart! Two coats, no top coat.

Imogen is indeed a Magical PixieDust*! On the accent nail is glossy Willa.

So have you ordered your Wishes yet? I was surprised not to see some sort of red and/or green in this year’s collection, but maybe something is coming. I don’t know but you can be sure if it drops down the chimney, it will land on my fingers! On a scale of 1-10, I’d rate this collection 9 out of 10. I love the Magical PixieDusts* best out of the collection, and of the standards included Haven has my vote. By the way, drying time on all of these were speedy. I like that around the holidays don’t you?!

* Zoya Magical PixieDust is textured, matte and sparkling. No base coat and top coat required. Order now! Available through Zoya.com and Ulta Stores.

Zoya Yuna, now my fave gray!

Just a quick post to let y’all know for the first time in my lacquer lovin’ life, I’ve fallen in love with a gray! Yuna is her name. Two coats to perfection.

Glossy and gilded, just how I like it!

When I bought most of the other Zoya Ignite collection, I was still on the fence about Yuna. I didn’t have one gray in my collection and wasn’t sure how it would look with my complexion. But the warmth and golden flecks in this beauty changed my mind.

What a perfect sweater weather shade!

A Zoya Candy Corn mani

Happy October 1st! Bring on the candy! 😉 And speaking of candy…I’ve been wanting to create a candy corn mani this month but unsure which polishes I’d use. So there I sat this morning in front of my polish shelves (yes shelves, don’t judge) and pondered. My eyes fell upon a row of Zoya Pixie Dusts and the light came on. It’s almost like those bottles of Pixie goodness glowed to get my attention. Okay, that might be a little dramatic, but I was pretty excited with my vision 😉

Halloween worthy mani, candy corn, just not the edible kind.

I settled on using Solange for the yellow, Dhara for the orange and a coat of Cosmo over white for the candy corn nails.

Solange is as described as a gold metal foil sparkle featuring a Zoya EXCLUSIVE GOLD PIGMENT in the best-selling Zoya PixieDust Textured, Matte, Foil Twinkle formula. Dahra is described as a firey orange copper with a matte, textured, sparkling metal finish. Cosmo, a Magical Pixie Dust, is described as a silver crystal sparkle, textured PixieDust with mega hex iridescent particles.

A little history about candy corn you may not know! Candy corn, the little yellow, orange, and white treat has it’s root dating back more than a century. It is said that a candy maker, George Renninger, of the renowned Wunderlee Candy Company in Philadelphia, invented the tri-color confection in the 1880s. The Goelitz Confectionery Company brought the candy to the everyone at the turn of the 20th century. The Jelly Belly Candy Co., now owns that company and has the longest history in the industry of making candy corn, and it still uses the original recipe. There are of course other companies who make candy cone, but with varied ingredients.

Thank you Ulta!

Thank you Ulta!

You can get this nice little gift set from Ulta when you buy two Zoya polishes. I bought Odette and Erika. This is “while supplies last”. 1oz Remove, full size Hot Lips in Glossy Balm in Flirty, mini Anchor base coat, and mini Matte top coat. It seems from what I’ve read that whether you’re required to buy reg price polishes as opposed to clearance bottles is up to the store’s discretion. I also purchased one bottle, “Wish On A Starfish”, from the new China Glaze Sea Goddess Collection of springtime textured polishes. It’s gorgeous and I’ll be posting a review here soon. However, just a heads up, they charge $10 at Ulta for them and then I find out I could have gotten it at Sally Beauty for $5.99! Say what?! Seriously, that’s a huge difference. I’m considering returning it before I use it and ask for a price match. If they won’t play ball, I’ll ask for a refund and jog over to Sally! Have you gotten any of the gorgeous CG Sea Goddess shades and what to you pay?

Mini haul Happy Birthday to me!

minihaul
Thank you to Ulta for my birthday present! I may not be a power buyer at Ulta but it’s nice that they remembered my birthday month (I’m a card carrying member) with a nice gift! I got an email a short while ago with a coupon for a free high end mascara by CK One (an $18 value)!

I never spend more than $9 or $10 on mascara and I’ve just recently discovered a new fave, The Rocket by Maybelline. I LOVE everything about The Rocket. The formula, fantastic. The brush, perfect for top and bottom lashes. Which is a big issue for someone with smallish eyes but long lashes. It’s a big deal to me to not get mascara all over my skin when applying. The Rocket’s brush immediately curls my lashes with 0 effort. I’m hoping, but beggars can’t be choosers, that this CK masacara will be just as impressive. I’m just jazzed to have gotten it for free.

The rest of my mini haul involved all three polishes for $4.99 ea (on sale) plus I received a thank you coupon from Ulta for $5 off $10+ purchase. So, I basically paid $10 for these three. If I’d bought them at full price, I’d have had to pay about $14 for the SpaRitual Intuition (this is my first) and one I’ve been drooling over for months; the Zoya Pixie Dusts (this one is Dhara) are $10ea and the OPI Liquid Sands (this one is What Wizardry is This?) are $10 ea. So, $34 full price for those three and $18 mascara = value of $52, all for $10. Happy birthday to me! 😉

Gorgeous gold infused sparkle in this OPI Liquid Sand.

I might mention I can thank Nicole from the Youtube channel, youngwildandpolished, for suggesting this Liquid Sand. I saw it was one of her Top Ten polishes for 2013 and the swatch was so amazing, it immediately made my wish list. Then I saw it for $4.99…heck yeah! Thanks Nicole. You little lacquer vixen you!
