SquareHue Museum Hop Paris is soo “Artsy”!

Well, November brought us to Paris with the SquareHue Adventure Collection subscription box of artsy polishes in three formulas, Museum Hop Paris! It’s an artsy trio including a matte, a high gloss creme and my fave, a scattered holo. Let’s take a tour!

Here is Pompidou from the SquareHue Museum Hop Paris box for November! The Adventure Collection for the year 2016 is almost over, and I’m simply giddy over Pompidou. I love holo, scattered holo and a scattered holo brown? LOVE IT! Two coats and great formula.

Here is d’Orsay, from the SquareHue Adventure Collection for November, Museum Hop Paris. It’s a high gloss creme peachy nude. Super opaque one coater. Glossy as heck and great to apply.

Here is Louvre from the SquareHue November box called Museum Hop Paris. It’s a very matte wet cement grey. Super pigmented, one coater.

CONCLUSION: All three formulas were as always, fabulous, tres chic! The matte and the creme, not so much my colors, but they’d be great canvases for some nail art! My fave was the chocolate-brown scattered holo. Wow, that one, oh my goodness! If you get a chance to order this, do it for no other reason than to get that holo wonder, Pompidou! Au revoir mon chéri!

The Gondola Venice box from SquareHue is a work of art

I literally, not exaggerating here, gasped when I opened this month’s box from SquareHue’s Adventure Collection, Gondola Venice, for October. Three old world shades you’d very much expect to find while gliding down the canals of Venice. With all the artful charm and historic grace of this beautiful Italian city, you are sure to find these exact hues while exploring all it’s alleys, stores and galleries. Let’s see what Venice looks like on the nail!

Here are the 3 bottles from the SquareHue Adventure Collection box for 10.16 Gondola Venice set. SH nailed the artistry and classic old world hues of Venice. A place where time stands still. From left, Canal Grande (w/silver shimmer), Santa Maria del Giglio (high gloss deep taupe creme), and Campo San Moisè (high gloss deep beet red).

From the SquareHue Adventure Collection box for 10.16 Gondola Venice set, here is Canal Grande. It’s a deep teal/aqua with silver shimmer. Mimicking the delightful canals of Venice, this 2-coater looks even more chic out of the bottle!

From the SquareHue Adventure Collection box for 10.16 Gondola Venice set, here is Santa Maria del Giglio. It is a buttery smooth one coater, a taupey neutral. Deep and classy, this one is a must have!

From the SquareHue Adventure Collection box for 10.16 Gondola Venice set, here is Campo San Moisè. Breathtakingly classic red creme. This 2-coater glides on with ease, a bit on the thin side but totally manageable. It reminds me of beet juice. Glorious!

CONCLUSION: SquareHue couldn’t have chosen more perfect colors for the Gondola Venice box. All so complimentary to the other shades, each formula also rates high marks. The thickest in application was the taupey creme, Santa Maria del Giglio and I only needed one coat. Campo San Moisè is a beet red creme that is drool-worthy and oh so glossy! It’s much thinner in formula but I had no pooling issues and it goes on really nice. This is my kind of red for Fall! Canal Grande is also a winner with its subtle silver shimmer. The shimmer doesn’t take over and therefore qualifies for day or night wear. Two easy coats and this very flattering deep teal aqua stunner.

SquareHue subbies love Explore Antelope Canyon!

I have to say since the September polish subscription box from SquareHue, Explore Antelope Canyon has hit the mailboxes, I’ve been hearing shouts of excitement from everyone so far. A nice spectrum of hues for this month’s Adventure collection. Sandstone is a Duo Microglitter with hues playing in the light from redish pink to golden and sunset orange. Depending on the light, like real sandstone, you never know what shade is going to show next. It’s not a huge shift, but gorgeous nonetheless. Slot Canyon was a delightful surprise to me as of all the shades of browns I own, I have no caramels like this. And Corkscrew Canyon is a delightful and glossy creme in a smokey lilac.

Explore Antelope Canyone…yes please!

Let’s take a look at this “Page, Arizona” inspired set. Like the enduring nature of this sacred Navajo Nation land, see what journey these take you on!

Sandstone and Slot Canyon, like they were made for each other. Each shade glide on with ease, one coat for the caramel brown Slot Canyon while 2 coats got the job done with Sandstone.

Corkscrew Canyon is a lovely smokey lilac. Super easy to apply and only 2 coats. Nail art using all three from this collection.

Conclusion: Fave shade, Sandstone for its sparkle and duo shades. Biggest surprise, Slot Canyon! Didn’t think I’d like it on my complexion but I did like it! And I can never get enough lilacs in any shade, warm or cool.

SquareHue takes us to Hawaii in August with the Scuba Hawaii box

Aloha! When I heard the SquareHue August box would be featuring Hawaii in Scuba Hawaii, my mind was immediately transported to our trip to Maui some years ago. Although we are not certified in scuba, you can still snorkel your days away on a host of pristine beaches on nearly all of the islands. You’ll see hosts of coral in every color, tropical fish that you thought you’d only see in an aquarium and let’s not forget the adorable honu (sea turtles)! There’s more of the Hawaiian Islands to see than just above ground with waterfalls, sand in every color, palm trees, Plumerias and bamboo forests. There’s a whole other world underwater! Let me get your appetite swimming!

Feeling so tropical with these three beauties from the SquareHue Adventure Collection for 8/16, Scuba Hawaii. From Left, Nani (Beautiful), ikaika (Strong), and Akamai (Intelligent).

I featured all three of the Scuba Hawaii shades from the August box. I HAD to design an underwater scene of course. Nani is described as a high gloss creme but if you look close, there is a hint of shimmer in there. Ikaika is a true high gloss smokey purple, and Akamai is a true blue/green foil.

And a bit closer up so you can see my undersea nail art. Sorry I’m no Van Gogh! lol No worries Brah!

Having been to Maui, HI myself, I can tell you that the underwater world there is as captivating as on the sand. I’m sure it was difficult for SH to settle on no more than three shades. For example, the Parrot Fish alone often displays sometimes a minimum of five colors! Always picking at the coral, it seems Parrot Fish have a voracious appetite.

Conclusion: All formulas were 2 coaters for me. My fave was the blue/green foil, Akamai! I love that the orange creme has a surprise subtle shimmer. And the smokey purple was amazingly glossy and perfect to apply. Since Maui was the only island we visited, I can only speak for that island, but if you only visit once, I’d give a zillion stars to Maui. We snorkeled every day and on the west-southwest beaches we found some secret spots that were uncanny. We went to the Old Lahaina Luau. Not to be missed! We flew in a helicopter over the island and the dormant volcano Haleakala. Parasailed at 800 feet in the air and snorkeled Molokini where we saw teams of Honu! Best vacation ever!

SquareHue July ’16 Adventure Collection: Celebrate Freedom America

July 4th, Independence Day has come and gone. The heat is still here though! We had a fabulous celebration and ended the day with a huge display put on the by city of Temple, Texas. You’ll see the patriotic mani I wore using the three polishes from this month’s box from SquareHue, Celebrate Freedom America. We’ve had a houseful and I’ve even had a chance to create a simple followup mani using the same colors. Sorry for the slight delay of this post. Just a few days late. 🙂 Here we go!

Perfect collection of colors for the SquareHue July Adventure Collection, Celebrate Freedom America / 07.16. Fireworks, a red jelly based glitter. Stars, a white shimmer. And Independence, a super glossy deep blue creme.

I especially love holiday collections because it takes the guesswork out of assembling your shades and finishes for the next time that holiday rolls around.

The Celebrate Freedom America collection for July 2016! Stars is a mild shimmer in a white creme. Fireworks a red jelly based glitter. And my fave of the bunch, Independence is a deep blue high gloss creme with a slightly jelly feel.

Here are the two manicures I created.

Here I feature all three polishes from the Celebrate Freedom America box. I’m holding Independence. The white polish, Stars is opaque in 2 coats. Independence in 3 coats. Fireworks has a nice red jelly base so opaque in 2-3 coats.

It was a busy day on the 4th of July when I did this mani and almost forgot to snap a photo! Sorry about the fuzzy cell phone shot. But this was my patriotic mani using the July colors from the SquareHue Celebrate Freedom America box. Here I’m holding Fireworks!

Conclusion: All three polishes’ finishes were easy to apply, quick to dry and I especially loved the deep blue one, Independence. Any jelly-like polishes are always a win-win. Glossy, smooth to apply and to me the real standout of a skittle mani. Bonus: the blue didn’t stain my nails!

Cruise to the SquareHue Sail Windward Islands

Hello SUMMER! I’ll get right to the point. If you love summertime, the sun, the sea, the fun. Go no further than the SquareHue Adventure Collection for June, Sail Windward Islands. Amazing shades of citrus for your fingers and toes.

Slap on your deck shoes because SquareHue is taking you for a cruise to the Caribbean. The June collection, Sail Windward Islands includes, from left, green shimmer of Martinique; orange shimmer of St. Vincent; and yellow high gloss creme of St. Lucia.

St. Vincent is a tangerine orange with golden shimmer. This one is breathtaking. Easy to apply. Nail charms by Glitter Lambs on Etsy.

St. Lucia is a banana peel yellow. Vibrant and pigmented. A bit on the jelly side. This took 2 coats. Nail art pieces by Glitter Lambs on Etsy!

Martinique is a glorious key lime green with hints of golden shimmer. Absolutely love this. 3 smooth and easy coats. Nail charms by Glitter Lambs on Etsy!

Conclusion. I love citrus, and especially love citrusy polishes like this. I would recommend using a good base coat in case of pigment bleed. The yellow is especially pigmented. Love the application and colors! A special thank you to Jamie from Glitter Lambs. Her charms and nail jewelry is the bomb!

Here it is May already and the weather is fine! SquareHue takes us to “Scooter Key West” and we join the Conch Nation is celebrating all things tropical! You know I love Florida and this month’s sub box is just what I hoped it would be.

The Scooter Key West box for May 2016 contains 3 summery shades. From Left, Mallory Square, Duval Street and Southernmost Point.

Key West is part of the Island chain of the Florida Keys, a mere 90 miles north of Cuba. So let’s jump on our scooters and take a look at some warm and inviting nail lacquers. Perfect for your next trip to America’s Caribbean.

Southernmost Point is a glossy buttery smooth Duochrome, shifting main shade is a bright berry pink with strong blue shimmer. 2 coats.

Duval Street is a 2-coat really opaque high gloss creme. This minty green is the essential beachy shade for summer.

Mallory Square is a semi sheer micro glitter baby pink. 3 to 4 coats needed for full opacity or wear it as a blushing pink with 1 to 2 coats.

SquareHue Adventure Collection takes us to Skydive Interlaken!

Diving right into the April polish subscription box from SquareHue, the moment I opened it I was out of breath! The April Adventure Collection brings us Skydive Interlaken. Three finishes, three knockout shades. Let’s suit up and take a look!

Eye popping shades for April! From Left, Monch…an eye-searing matte yellow. Eiger…a pink duochrome gloss (I’d consider it more of a pink with flashes of blue). And a glitter within a purple crelly, Jungfrau.

Monch is so brilliant, not even the sun can compete with this shade. Wear it matte or shine it up even more with a topcoat. I don’t know why but yellow this shade screams for black! So I had fun with some dots and dry marble.

Monch in 2 coats. I read that some folks had some streaking and stringy formula issues. I had NO issues at all. Dried fast and very matte and I didn’t even need a 3rd coat.

Eiger is a super glossy pink with flashes of blue shimmer. I don’t seem to get a duochrome effect, but it’s sure gorgeous!

It took 3 thin coats and was easy to apply. I love pinks like this with that hint of shimmer.

Last but no way least, a super surprise this month is a pale purple crelly/glitter, Jungfrau. Hey, did you know that Jungfrau is a group of mountain peaks in Switzerland? Me neither. I really must get out more! lol

Jungfrau in 3 easy coats gives you great depth and dimension.

Conclusion. I read a couple mini reviews and a couple of reviewers had a couple of problems with Jungfrau and Monch. I had 0 problems, 0 defects! the Eiger took a bit longer to dry but the glossiness is worth it. Jungfrau is exactly how I like my crelly/glitters. And Monch, well. She’s a standout as far as yellow polishes are concerned. I’m super pleased!

SquareHue The Adventure Collection Pub Crawl Dublin collection!

The month of March brings SquareHue The Adventure Collection Pub Crawl Dublin collection! An eye-popping set of juicy shades featuring two different finishes. I’m loving these shades and a fun addition and sort of rare is the white texture.

Timid yet brilliant blue high gloss creme is St. John. A quick drying glass finish. The creamy orange is super glossy as well, it’s called Temple Bar. And the one shade begs to differ from the others, a shy creme white, but not super pure white…it’s a sparkly textured finish.

You won’t have the blues when you’re wearing blue hues like this! St. John is gorgeous!

St. John is a caribbean blue, maybe reminiscent of Curacao? A creme blue, 2 coats here.

Juicy orange creme, Temple Bar looks good enough to eat.

Temple Bar reminds me of a glass of OJ with creme mixed in. Really glossy, 2 coats here.

A sugary textured white, Bridge Inn, not too white but very complimentary to every skin tone.

Bridge Inn is a slightly off white textured polish that looks like it contains a good portion of sugar! 2 coats, on the thick side, but totally doable.

Conclusion: No blarney here, these polishes are perfect for March! The Temple Bar and St. John shades are glossy and quick drying, only required 2 coats. Bridge Inn took a bit more patience in application, but that is how textures are. The outcome is worth the effort.

Anticipating spring, Waterland District happens to be one of my favorite types of shades.

Here is Waterland District in 2 glossy coats. Smooth application, could probably get away with one. It’s a super shiny aqua/teal creme.

Vondelpark is a smokey purple full of shine.

Vondelpark is a glorious 1 coater creme. Loaded with gloss, this smokey purple eggplant is amazing!

Can never get enough red! Love this shimmery one, The Nieuwmarkt.
