Manis and lacquers

ILNP Spring Collection 2016 is here!

Now that Spring is fully on deck, our nail lacquer lovers are seeking all things shiny and new. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Spring than freshly painted nails. One of my fave indie nail brands, ILNP has two 2016 polish collection you’ll crave. A couple of weeks ago I posted my review on the ILNP Spring Jellies and today I’ll present the Spring Collection. These babies all scream for the sun (which is why I shot most of the photos in the sun!). Let’s take a look!

Available NOW for $72/set or $10ea, except for the one on top left, Mayfield (an Ultra Chrome Flaky!) From top left and down: Mayfield, Daisy Jane, Deja Vu, Apricot Cream, Bulletproof Symphony, Skyscraper and Rolling Hills.

Drop dead gorgeous over any nail color or alone, Mayfield.

My sun photo was too intense to show you the gorgeous flakies the way I wanted. So this is in shade. Mayfield is described as, "a stunning combination of color-shifting Ultra Chrome Flakies. Mayfield features a gorgeous array of colors including purple, pink, green, gold, orange and turquoise! Use Mayfield as a topper over your favorite nail polish or brush on a few layers for full coverage. ILNP Ultra Chrome Flakies are fully opaque and can be worn alone or over any color without affecting the intense color shifting properties. Full coverage in 3 - 4 coats." $12.50

What is your vegan/cruelty free policy?
ILNP absolutely does not test our products on animals nor do we purchase materials from suppliers that do. We make a conscious effort to avoid purchasing animal/insect derived materials like carmine and guanine/pearl, etc. as there are plenty of synthetic alternatives that perform the same or even better.

Are your nail polishes 3-Free?
Yes! All ILNP nail polishes are 3 free! They DO NOT contain Toluene, Formaldehyde, or Dibutyl Phthalate.

What does 3-Free mean?
3-Free means that our nail polishes do not contain Toluene, Formaldehyde, or Dibutyl Phthalate. These 3 ingredients were previously used in most nail polish formulations until recent studies found them to be potentially harmful or irritable to humans. While these chemicals aren’t illegal to use in nail polish (although California law requires special labeling if used), most large brands have already moved to 3-Free formulas at the urge of educated consumers as well as organizations that campaign for safe cosmetics.”

Manis and lacquers

Neptune’s Bubbles mani inspired by Cult Cosmetics lacquers!

I was thinking about the cool clear ocean this morning, naturally while I was looking for some nail art inspo. I pulled out a few faves from my Cult Cosmetics collection and BOOM! A bubble mani featuring some cool blues. One of the quickest ways to take your mani from “meh” to “Oh My! is with nail dotting tools. Say hello to my undersea mani I call, Neptune’s Bubbles! Not that Neptune has anything to do with our ocean. But the blues, it’s all about blue! Did you know?…”Neptune’s atmosphere is made up of hydrogen, helium and methane. The methane in Neptune’s upper atmosphere absorbs the red light from the sun but reflects the blue light from the Sun back into space. This is why Neptune appears blue.” It’s a gassy planet, but hey, it’s blue!

I'm pretty stoked about how my seaside mani turned out. I called it, "Neptune's Bubbles"! Over each nail I used the iridescent flaky topper called Hollywood Forever. Pinky nail is dark and shimmery House of Blues, middle finger is a creme, Catalina and pointer finger I used The Roxy. The accent nail (my inspo for Neptune's Bubbles) I used all four with a dotting tool.

Here are the polishes used in today’s mani.

The Cult Cosmetics polishes I used for this fun maritime mani are, from top left: Hollywood Hills, House of Blues, Catalina and The Roxy.

House of Blues, sorry, no link to this beauty. I couldn’t find it on the web site so it may be discontinued. If you do find it let me know! It’s a gorgeous cobalt blue shimmer, and a one coater. Just like the two cremes here, each only require one coat and super glossy.

Catalina, described as, “Catalina is like a vacation to your favorite island. On a warm day, feel free to wear this bright and dreamy blue – and nothing else!”

The Roxy, described as, “The Roxy is the new language of LA sass! This vibrant, feminine hue can take your mani from gentle to intense, depending on your mood. Name inspired on the renamed venue in Sunset blvd . Name inspired by the legendary nightclub on the Sunset strip. Bob Marley & the Wailers, The Ramones, RHCP and Gwen Stefani are some of the amazing musicians who played at The Roxy.”

Hollywood Forever, described as, “Hollywood Forever is a light-shattering polish for next-dimension nails. Its opalescent glow and shining shades go on like magic over any base color.”

Gee, now I’m thinking of some other color combos for this cute look. How about you, have you tried a bubble dotted mani? By the way, these are available now for $12.50 ea, and Cult Cosmetics also carry polish kits, nail art tools and more!

Cult Cosmetics lacquers are premium, 5-FREE, Vegan, cruelty-free single coat polishes and makeup products. None of their polishes are animal tested and they are made in California, USA.

Manis and lacquers

This mani is Shamrockin’ using shades from Cult Cosmetics!

St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner and what better way to celebrate than with a bit ‘o the Irish feel than with a Shamrockin’ mani?! Now, I have to admit, I don’t have a drop of Irish in me. Not that I know of. But most of us have grown up celebrating the day anyway. I did some simple nail art using a dotting tool for some rudimentary shamrocks. I used a fine lining brush for the rainbow and added a few dots of gold to complete the look. No blarney, I did it in 15 minutes! Let’s take a look.

The mani at the end of the rainbow! Here is a cute nail art idea for you for your St. Patrick's Day mani. I used 2 coats of that pale minty green Venice Beach, 2 coats of Palos Verde and the gold accents I used the gold micro glitter bomb polish (not a glitter topper, a polish, called Whiskey A Go Go by Cult Cosmetics.

You can used your own imagination for your rainbow and pot ‘o gold! I used all Cult shades for this one. How about you? Do you celebrate, drink green beer or go to the parades? If not, at least you could sit in comfort on March 17th and create a fun look in no time! You can order all these shades and a ton more at Cult Cosmetics today! Links below so you can go shop now, and it won’t take a whole bag of gold either!

Manis and lacquers

CND Vinylux for Game Day. Are you ready for some football…manis that is?

Allow me to “kick off” with a little back story! When I was in high school…like eons ago, I was a loyal “WHS Husky”. Our school mascot was a fierce canine as was our football team, and our colors were black and orange. Yeah, can you hear me yawning? Don’t get me wrong. I adored my alma mater, our mascot, our fabulous campus and MOST of my teachers. 😉 But honestly, our school colors were the colors of Halloween! But, going to football and basketball games were always proud and memorable events. We donned our school colors, wrapped fuzzy black and orange angora thread around our steady boyfriend’s class ring and spent countless nights shouting “Go Huskies” ’till we were hoarse. By the way, I personally do not have a preference this year since my own home pro team didn’t qualify…again! 😉 Have I painted a proper picture for you?

Speaking of painting, it’s a great time to be a pro football fan and you’re going to want to paint your nails with your team’s colors or even attempt some nail art. Man, I wish we were more adventurous with our manis back then! We are literally just around the corner from the Big Game! Time to grab some polishes representing your favorite team, whether they’re from Seattle or New England.

Whether you're rooting for New England (colors on the left are "Hollywood" and "Midnight Swim") or Seattle (colors on the right are Lush Tropics and Indigo Frock) you'll find the perfect combination of shades with CND Vinylux Weekly Polishes from Loxa Beauty. www.shoploxa.com

Score one for New England with a super simple mani!

Your New England inspired mani can be as simple as this one using striping and dots, and a little star. I used Hollywood and Midnight Swim. For the accent finger I used a shimmery pigskin brown topped laced with some white striping tape.

Seattle touches down at the goal post with a fun dotticure.

For my Seattle look I used Lush Tropics and Indigo Frock. I used a white striper polish for the goal post and the same brown shimmer for the tiny football!

Aren’t these colors fun? Let me digress a bit before sending you off to the big game. You know when you begin those last four years of secondary education, you rarely have a choice just because might have a distaste for the school’s colors. I’m just glad we got to wear black graduation robes instead of bright orange! Potential college recruits do have a little more variety in their futures. Whether your future grad gown is pomegranate or puce, you do tend to identify with your alliances by the colors they embrace. When you become a pro football fan, it’s no different. How you identify with your team may be even more intense. By this time you don’t care what your home team’s colors are. You might paint your face, wear frighteningly unattractive headgear, and now you find yourself freezing your buns off barbecuing from the back of your SUV in a parking lot! See? Now our allegiance has REALLY matured! LOL

As always, CND polishes are quick drying and easy to apply. Brushes are super nice. I used two coats of each shade. Here are the polishes from CND Vinylux that might score big in your playbook. Be sure to check the links below! Oh, here is another huge SCORE for you! Your DISCOUNT CODE is $5 off of $25 or more! Code: 8FU9JG

Manis and lacquers

My Top 20 Faves for 2014…because I couldn’t decide on less :-)

Well, call it what you will, I swatched so many fabulous polishes this past year, I found it immensely challenging to decide! Coming up with 10 faves, not even doable for me. Even 20 was tough and I wanted to include so many more. But I HAD to narrow it down and I have to say, this was a job! But I’ll just post the 20, same pics I posted a couple of hours ago in Instagram. Because after all, it IS New Years Eve! No, I’m not going anywhere. Too cold and too many dodgy drivers out there. Enjoy!
