Morgan Taylor Gifted With Style!

While supplies last! Because for $15, this cute Morgan Taylor mini set won’t last long at Loxa Beauty. I have the Gifted With Style pack along with two more (full size) bottles perfectly suited for your holiday manis. (A Little Naughty and All Wrapped Up)

I have to disclose, I swatched these a couple of weeks ago. Right before we had to put the brakes on all things polish so we could move to our new house. So I know you’ll forgive me for this short break. Ugh, break is a bad word around here. I broke off two nails, well, not broke off totally. I chipped a couple in the midst of our move and had to file my nails down to a workable, packable, moveable length! lol They are already growing back.

Let’s start with Gifted With Style!

All Wrapped Up "Gifted With Style" set of minis from Morgan Taylor. A perfect little quad pack of mini polishes. Plus a couple of festive polishes in full size. Every one is perfect for the season. From left: All Wrapped Up in full bottle. In gift pack: Ruby Two-Shoes, I'm So Hot, Tinsel My Fancy, Gifted in Platinum. Full bottle on right: A Little Naughty.

Even though these little pixies were petit bottles, I’ve never had any issues with application. The brushes are great, bottles don’t tip and the formulas are perfect. They are also available in full size for $8.50 ea. And for a limited time, take advantage of the Loxa Beauty BOGO sale!

Here are the first two in the set. The shades just inspire creativity. I know, I’m no awesome nail artist. But for what it’s worth, why not try when you have these fab formulas?! Ruby Two Shoes and Gifted in Plantinum.

Two fun fall looks using CND Vinylux Weekly polish and Additives

I have a few CND salon products I’m featuring today using their long-wearing Weekly Polish System and CND Enhancements Additives (sent to me by Loxa Beauty). Remember, I’m not a nail tech and my art is what I call “beginners”. At least I have fun doing it! 😉 RPR sent me four polishes which truly are, “Bold and Beautiful”. Fall shades and finishes are in step this season. They are perfect for back to school looks as well. Be it fun and feisty or smoldering and sexy, CND’s got your color.

From Left: Dark Dahlia is a lovely, dark blackberry creme., from the Forbidden Collection from CND. Electric Orange is a bright, popping orange creme. Cerulean Sea is a medium sky blue creme. Scarlet Letter is a deep oxblood creme.

I will add here, I LOVE the outcome using the Additives, so graciously sent to me by Loxa Beauty! Sort of a pain to remove. The super fine milled Additive Jaded Rebel really clings to the skin. Next time I think I’ll use a latex barrier while applying! But the end result is SO worth it.

This mani goes POP! Electric Orange is a bright, popping orange creme. Cerulean Sea is a medium sky blue creme. I used a dotting tool to dab on drops of Cerulean Sea, followed by drops of Electric orange! A word about the formulas. The blue was a bit watery but a good formula with good coverage, 2-3 coats. The Electric Orange gave me fits. I think it may have been a bad bottle, which is rare for CND. I had to give it a good shake because upon first application, it had some chunks of pigment that would not smooth out. Sort of like curds. It eventually smoothed out, but the formula is on the thick side. I needed to allow the first coat fully dry before applying the second.

Although I had trouble with the Electric Orange formula, I do believe it was just a bad bottle, or suffered heat stroke in the mail! Once I worked it out, it looked fabulous!

2nd installment for Morgan Taylor’s Hello Pretty! duos, Cupcake Cute-Ture

Today I’d like to share the second of three beautiful duo sets, available NOW at Loxa Beauty. Cupcake Cute-Ture is a mouth-watering set containing a shimmery mint green and a shocking neon coral creme. Let’s take a look!

Cupcake Cute-Ture is an adorable set with a shimmery oriental green called Do You Harajuku? and a nearly neon coral called Manga-Round With Me.
Cupcake Cute-Ture is an adorable set with a shimmery oriental green called Do You Harajuku? and a nearly neon coral called Manga-Round With Me.

I LOVE neon corals and this creme did not disappoint. Typical perfectly creamy formula for MT lacquers, Manga-Round With Me is a tan loving, brilliant coral. It really gave my camera fits trying to balance my skin tone with that neon!

Manga-Round With Me applied perfectly in two coats, is slightly satin in finish and a brilliant neon coral creme. I have to say, I'm in love with this one!

Now, this is unusual for Morgan Taylor formulas, but this pretty little mint number, Do You Harajuku?, did not want to cooperate. It’s on the thick side, streaky on the first two coats but finally settles down on the third. I highly recommend letting each coat dry a good 5 minutes and it’s all good.

Do You Harajuku? requires three coats and this gorgeous shimmery mint is on the thick side, making it a bit of a challenge to apply evenly. The outcome is stunning but application did vex me! lol

It made a gorgeous base for a little “Cute-Ture” nail art!

Lovely shade of pale green mint with a hint of shimmer. Do You Harajuku? may be a bit of an unforgiving formula straight, but all it's all good when you add nail art. The neon coral creme Mango-Round With Me in the Cupcake Cute-Ture duo teams up beautifully!

Morgan Taylor Hello Pretty! Duo sets

Konnichiwa! As we dive right into Summer 2015, Loxa Beauty provided me for review three adorable duo sets from the Morgan Taylor Hello Pretty! collection. Today I’ll be sharing with you the first set of the three, “Bubblegum Yum”! High pigments, neon and bright cremes are the perfect pair.

The Bubblegum Yum duo is everything girl and pink with amazing formulas all around. The set includes Look At You, Pink-Achu! and Tokyo A GoGo.
The Bubblegum Yum duo is everything girl and pink with amazing formulas all around. The set includes Look At You, Pink-Achu! and Tokyo A GoGo.

Inspired by Japanese street style and pop anime culture, these polishes will have you saying, “Arigatō”! First of the Bubblegum Yum duo is Look At You, Pink-Achu!

From the Bubblegum Yum duo here is Look At You Pink-Achu! is a Barbie pink creme on the neon spectrum. A formula on the thicker side but 1-2 coats will do ya, very pigmented! It dries to a satin finish so I added a coat of clear topcoat.

I loved both formulas and Tokyo A GoGo really jumps off your nails!

The other stunner in the set is called Tokyo A GoGo. A highly pigmented, slightly thick and easy self-leveling pinky purple orchid neon creme...oh so fun and captivating!

Morgan Taylor Ooh LaLa collection is très jolie!

Morgan Taylor has nailed the sophisticated shades of French fashion with the new collection, Ooh LaLa. Oh the glitter, the glam! You’ll be on-trend and on-point wearing these four shades in any combination. They beg for nail art, from beginner to advanced, this palette will bring out the artist in you! Let’s take a look.

Bonjour mes amies! Presenting the Ohh LaLa collection of Morgan Taylor. Four gorgeous lacquers inspired by all thing fab, French and flirty! From left: Amour Color Please, Escar-Go To France, Postacards From Paris and Cancan We Dance?
Bonjour mes amies! Presenting the Ohh LaLa collection of Morgan Taylor. Four gorgeous lacquers inspired by all thing fab, French and flirty! From left: Amour Color Please, Escar-Go To France, Postacards From Paris and Cancan We Dance?

Now, I took over four years of French in school, and now that I’m “mature”, I’ve lost a lot of my French conversational linguistics…badly! But every now and then, I’ll hear a word or phrase and some of it comes floating back to my lips. But I won’t torture you. It’s a good thing you don’t have to hear me! Anyway, let’s begin with the most perfect formula! They are all good, but this petite beauté had me oohing and ahhing! Amour Color Please is perfect.

Amour Color Please is a bright berry fuscia creme with a whisper of blue flash. This is one coat, that's all you need! Perfect formula, very pigmented. Accented here with a bit of French whimsy and on the pinky, the glitter topper in the quad called Escar-Go To France.

Escar-Go To France is a sugary treat of multi pastels of complimentary colors to the whole collection. The added holographic silver sets it off perfectly. I love it over every shade in the set but over black, c’est magnifique!

Escar-Go To France is the perfectly complimentary glitter topper to the collection. The clear base is filled with multi-sized rounds and hexes from medium to small in pastels of tiffany blue, rosey pink, white, and holographic silver. One thin coat over any shade and super easy to remove, no glitter nightmares here!

One thin coat over any shade and super easy to remove, no glitter nightmares here!

Next up is Postcards From Paris. This very pigmented Tiffany creme just reminds me of springtime in Paris. I have a few shades like this, but this one is a much fresher shade.

Postcards From Paris is a gorgeous Tiffany turquoise creme. I used two coats and although it's very pigmented, the first coat was every so slightly streaky. But the second coat makes it just right. On the accent nail is the glitter topper, Escar-Go to France over black.

And to finish off this quartette of fanciful and classy bunch, is Cancan We Dance? She’s a bit more of a free spirit this one! How can she help it? 😉 Her iridescent blue flash, look like the petite coats of a dance girl.

Cancan We Dance? is an elegant blushing coral creme, with the same hint of blue flash as Amour Color Please. The formula is a bit thinner and did require two coats.

Bottom line: I loved the inspiration of this collection. It’s always easier to me when a collection has a common theme. But just as important is the fact that the formulas and unique shades have to grab me. These really did!

So grab your passport, your poodle and your pearls and hop on to Loxa Beauty and order yours today. You’re going to love them!

Aloha! Hangin’ loose \mn/ with the OPI Hawaii Collection

Aloha all you wahines! Howzit? I have to admit, I am in love with 99 percent of this collection sent to me for review from Loxa Beauty! So much that I was a bit concerned about how these sun-drenched shades would look on my winter pale skin, that I actually applied bronzer on my fingers for the photos. How’s that for dedication?! No worries “brah”, it’s all da kine good when you’re on the island. And I REALLY want to get back to Maui. We were there for nine wonderful days in ’02 and all 500+ photos I took…all gone! Sadly, my laptop totally died a painful death upon reentry to the mainland and I didn’t back up my pics. Yeah, dat was lolo (stupid), I know. So I HAVE to go back right?!

Okay, I won’t torture you any further with my feeble attempt at the “pidgeon” slang. My kids would say, “lame Mom, lame.” LOL the collection consists of 12 island inspired shades. Cremes, shimmers and a lonely little metallic yellow glitter mix. Let’s take a look!

The OPI Hawaii collection for Spring 2015. Top down, left of center of starfish: top red is Go With The Lava Flow; to the right the green is My Gecko Does Tricks; the blue is The Color's Making Waves; under the blue is Hello, Hawaii Ya?; the peachy apricot creme is Is Mai Tai Crooked?; and the pink is Suzi Shops & Island Hops. To the right center of the starfish is: the mauve on top is Just Lanai-ing Around; the purple is Lost My Bikini in Molokini; the minty green is That's Hul-Arious!; the sandy nude is Do You Take Lei Away?; bottom yellow is Pineapples Have Peelings Too; and the bright coral/red is Aloha From OPI.

Get yourself a Mai Tai and pull up a beach towel. There are a lot of photos here! First up is Do You Take Lei Away?

Do You Take Lei Away is a lovely nude creme that only needed two coats. It's a bit on the beige spectrum but not too much pink. It's more like sand. Buttery formula.

Here we have Is Mai Tai Crooked?

Is Mai Tai Crooked? is a peachy salmon creme. A bit streaky on the 1st coat, starts correcting on the 2nd coat and perfect on #3! 2-3 coats depending on your technique but the color is worth it!

One of my faves, gorgeous Aloha From OPI.

Aloha From OPI is one of my faves in the lot. It's a brilliant "almost coral" but the color reminds me more of a red island flower, maybe I've seen this on a hibiscus? Gorgeous with a tan. I used 2 coats and it's pretty amazing.

In the same color family is Go With The Lava Flow.

Go With The Lava Flow is another coral but this is a shimmer. Just a slight shimmer but really glows in the sun. I can't wait to see this on my tanned toes! Super easy to apply, 2 coats.

And mauve shimmer in Just Lanai-ing Around.

Just Lanai-ing Around is a mauvey pink, but not your granny's mauve! It's just downright juicy. There is a very slight silver shimmer up close. This is 1 coat! But you might do 1-2. Great formula!

Blushing beauty is Suzi Shops & Island Hops.

Suzi Shops & Island Hops is a bubblegum pink creme. Nothing new here. It wants to be ornery and streaky on first two coats but it dries fast as do the others. So it's all good. This took 3 coats. Another nice one for summer toes.

Here is a simple mani using some of the above shades.

So, I wanted to create a simple mani using some of the color families in the collection. A simple dotticure with a gradient accent nail. On my pinky is Do You Take Lei Away? with dots of Aloha From OPI. The gradient is both of those shades plus Go With The Lava Flow. Go With The Lava Flow on my middle digit with Do You Take Lei Away?. On my pointer finger is Is Mai Tai Crooked dotted with Go With The Lava Flow.

In case you have seen That’s Hul-Arious! in the bottle and wondered, I did a comparison for you against Gargantuan Green Grape (not a part of this collection, but I already had it and just knew I had to throw this one at ya!)

Okay, when I opened the package containing these 12 summery bottles, I had a deja vu moment with That's Hul-Arious! Where have I seen this before? Ahh, I have a water, yucky bottle of a gorgeous color that aggravates me to no end, Gargantuan Green Grape! Well, no they aren't dupes but you can barely see that in the bottles side by side. I've labeled them so you can see. "GGG" is a cooler shade of mint, watery and takes 4 coats to opacity and then you may still see nail bed. Whereas "TH" from the Hawaii collection is mintier, much more opaque and not nearly as watery. It took 2 coats for me, and recommended 2-3 coats. Very glossy too! If you get That's Hul-Arious! and are tempted at any time to get Gargantuan GG, don't bother. All you need is the Aloha spirit of TH!

I wanted you to see the difference between GGG and TH. It took 4 coats of Gargantuan and still see nail bed. That's Hul-Arious only took 2 coats.

And here is That’s Hul-Arious on the nails.

That's Hul-Arious is a minty green creme, nice formula, 2 coats.

Another pretty green in the collection, My Gecko Does Tricks.

My Gecko Does Tricks is a shimmery, sort of duochrome like finish, very shiny and although it goes on sort of thin, it only took me 2 coats. You can get full opacity in 2-3 coats.

A beautiful Pacific blue shimmer in This Color’s Making Waves.

This Color's Making Waves is a pretty metallic with silver shimmer and silver glass flecks. This is 2 coats. It definitely reminds me of the water at the black sand beach on Maui!

Almost there! I know, longer than a 14-hour flight to the island chain. Here is Hello, Hawaii Ya?

Hello, Hawaii Ya? I'm not totally sure why this smoky purple landed in the collection. Maybe it represents Pele's personality. Maybe there is an island flower this color? It's pretty, and I like this cremey formula. I just don't think it needed to be in this collection with the other gorgeous grapey purple. You know what? Actually, now that I think of it, poi, that starchy purple mashed root that is so prominent in a myriad of the Island's food could be the inspiration here. At a luau we attended in Maui, besides poi we had taro root rolls nearly this color! They were goooood! So, I take it back. This color belongs. ;-)

A gorgeous, absolutely stunning purple creme, Lost My Bikini in Molokini.

Lost My Bikini in Molokini. Molokini, that crescent islet off the coat of Molokai is a great place to dive. And you do NOT want to lose your bikini there. When we snorkeled there we saw lots of honu (sea turtles) and reef sharks! This gorgeous grapey purple creme is another of my faves in this collection. 1 COAT! LOVE IT!

And last, my least favorite, but nice attempt, Pineapples Have Peelings Too.

Pineapples Have Peelings Too. I hoped to give you good news about this one. But I can't lie. This is two coats but I had to fish for every glitter (other than the colored micro glitters) on each finger. I applied the first coat easily enough and I like the shimmery yellow all by itself. But that infernal glitter does not belong in this metallic yellow polish. This is two coats. between coats I had to dob polish onto a piece of foil then pick the larger glitters up with an orangewood stick, apply, then applied the second coat. Sorry but a indie glitter it's not! I do like the yellow though!

That’s all 12! Have you already picked up any of these, or the whole collection? You can order them all at *** Loxa Beauty today!

Believe me, I wanted so badly to have a little tan before swatching these, so I had to fake it with bronzer. Oh well, the life of a beauty blogger! 😉

Manis and lacquers

50 Shades of Grey LE Collection by OPI

I received all six shades of the 50 Shades of Grey LE Collection by OPI, from Loxa Beauty this week. From vampy cool toned red to the smoldering deep toned grey (w/just a hint of blue-tone), this ensemble will surely inspire you to paint your nails and go to town! I have to say, the some of the formulas were on the thin side of application, but each only needed two coats to opacity. I had a bit of trouble with pooling on the red, Romantically Involved, but it only happened on one nail. The fluidity of the formula took me by surprise. Each creme dried quickly, applied smooth and dried glossy. Here are a couple shot of the bottles.

I like how the grey shades were sort of stepped, and I plan on trying a gradient when I get the chance. Then the other three took on a different personality from snappy silver, sparkly silver with blue glitters and sexy red.

You can now get all six shades from the LE Collection of 50 Shades of Grey by OPI now from Loxa Beauty! The film adaptation of the 2011 romance novel by British author E.L. James is due to be released in theaters on February 13, 2015.

“Surrender to the passion. Surrender to the color.” Pick up your OPI 50 Shades of Grey polishes today at Loxa Beauty!

• Click – My Silk Tie

My Silk Tie is a pearlescent silver but also on the shimmery side. I used two coats, but depending on your style of application you might want three if you have trouble with brush strokes. I used Dark Side of the Mood on the accent.

• Click – Shine for Me

Shine for Me is a stunning shimmering teal and blue-sparked silver mettalic microglitter. Great for an accent nail with other shades from this LE collection. I found it dried slightly textured but added a coat of Gelous on top, smooth as a baby's hiney. I applied one thin coat over My Silk Tie as a topper, a great combo (and one thin coat over Dark Side of the Mood so you could see it layered) but you could definitely get away with it being opaque on it's own in 2-3 coats.

Conclusion: I liked this collection and felt like they all were very complimentary with each other. I loved layering the Shine on Me over My Silk Tie…total win there. I love reds and one would think with all the reds I own, I’d have a dupe. But nope! I looked and this is unlike my other reds. The thin formula is workable and makes this one worth it. I’m not a huge fan of grey/gray 😉 but they do gradient nicely together. My fave grey in this collection is the Dark Side of the Mood. What do you think? Got it, want it, on the fence? Loxa Beauty also has the set of minis as well!

I can’t personally expound much on the “Grey” trilogy, other than the 2nd installment of the books is named Fifty Shades Darker and the 3rd is Fifty Shades Freed. Both were published in 2012. But from what I’ve read from reviews of the trilogy, the story line is steamier than a July picnic in Louisiana! I may not be able to handle that, but I had no trouble with these fab polishes.
