New Zoya Naturel Satins 2015 are fabulous transitional nudes

I am beyond pleased to share with you one of the newest additions to the Zoya family of Naturel nudes, the Naturel Satins Transitional collection for 2015. Inside the beautiful frosted bottles with velvety caps, lies the extremely opaque polishes that will take you smoothly from winter into spring. I used two coats of each shade, all very similar in formula with the exception of Ana. She was very slightly more sheer due to her pale pink shade, but smoothed out nicely upon application of the second coat. These polishes dry quickly to a satiny finish, not shiny, not quite matte. Very attractive for the office or when you need to be classy yet in fashion. Although these are a bit on the thick side, they self leveled very nicely. Let’s take a look!

The new Zoya Naturel Satin* formula provides opaque coverage and wears much longer than traditional matte shades. Plus, the forgiving smooth finish hides imperfections!

First up is Leah. I was immediately impressed with how nice this shade complimented my pale winter skin tone. I think this will look great on any skin tone as well.

Leah is described by Zoya as "a lavender tinged taupe cream in the exclusive Satin* finish." I used two coats. Color Family - Nude Finish - Satin Intensity - 5 ( 1 = Sheer - 5 = Opaque ) Tone - Cool

Rowan was the surprise shade in the bunch in my view. I was unsure if I’d like a suede taupe on my skin, but it was one of my favorites.

Sage is one of those earthy soft shades I love.

Sage is described by Zoya "as a mossy sage green cream in the exclusive Satin* finish." I used two coats. Color Family - Green Finish - Satin Intensity - 5 ( 1 = Sheer - 5 = Opaque ) Tone - Cool

Tove is the essential grey. Since greys seem to be the fashion statement color this season, I’m glad they included this one in the collection.

Tove is described by Zoya as "a misty slate grey cream in the exclusive Satin* finish." I used two coats. Color Family - Blue Finish - Satin Intensity - 5 ( 1 = Sheer - 5 = Opaque ) Tone - Cool

Next we have Brittany. It’s a fabulous rose mauve. Sort of old school, but not old fashioned.

Brittany by Zoya can be best described as "a rose mauve cream in the exclusive Satin* finish." I used two coats. Color Family - Pink Finish - Satin Intensity - 5 ( 1 = Sheer - 5 = Opaque ) Tone - Cool

And last we have delicate Ana. My fave pink of the collection.

Ana is described by Zoya as "a light toasted almond cream in the exclusive Satin* finish." I used two coats. Color Family - Nude Finish - Satin Intensity - 5 ( 1 = Sheer - 5 = Opaque ) Tone - Cool

Overall I am extremely impressed with this collection. Leave it to Zoya to continually think outside the box. The formulas were all buttery smooth, very opaque, quick drying, self leveling and the shades are perfect. I had no trouble at all in application and as always, the brushes are perfection. I highly recommend every one of these! Come back a little later…as I bring you the Zoya Delight Spring collection for 2015 馃檪

*The Satin formula is a hybrid between matte and glossy polishes and is not intended to be worn with a top coat. For best results: Prep nail with Zoya Remove Plus Nail Polish Remover, apply base coat and finish with 2 thin coats of any Satin polish.

50 Shades of Grey LE Collection by OPI

I received all six shades of the 50 Shades of Grey LE Collection by OPI, from Loxa Beauty this week. From vampy cool toned red to the smoldering deep toned grey (w/just a hint of blue-tone), this ensemble will surely inspire you to paint your nails and go to town! I have to say, the some of the formulas were on the thin side of application, but each only needed two coats to opacity. I had a bit of trouble with pooling on the red, Romantically Involved, but it only happened on one nail. The fluidity of the formula took me by surprise. Each creme dried quickly, applied smooth and dried glossy. Here are a couple shot of the bottles.

I like how the grey shades were sort of stepped, and I plan on trying a gradient when I get the chance. Then the other three took on a different personality from snappy silver, sparkly silver with blue glitters and sexy red.

You can now get all six shades from the LE Collection of 50 Shades of Grey by OPI now from Loxa Beauty! The film adaptation of the 2011 romance novel by British author E.L. James is due to be released in theaters on February 13, 2015.

My Silk Tie is a pearlescent silver but also on the shimmery side. I used two coats, but depending on your style of application you might want three if you have trouble with brush strokes. I used Dark Side of the Mood on the accent.

鈥 Click – Shine for Me

Shine for Me is a stunning shimmering teal and blue-sparked silver mettalic microglitter. Great for an accent nail with other shades from this LE collection. I found it dried slightly textured but added a coat of Gelous on top, smooth as a baby's hiney. I applied one thin coat over My Silk Tie as a topper, a great combo (and one thin coat over Dark Side of the Mood so you could see it layered) but you could definitely get away with it being opaque on it's own in 2-3 coats.

Conclusion: I liked this collection and felt like they all were very complimentary with each other. I loved layering the Shine on Me over My Silk Tie…total win there. I love reds and one would think with all the reds I own, I’d have a dupe. But nope! I looked and this is unlike my other reds. The thin formula is workable and makes this one worth it. I’m not a huge fan of grey/gray 馃槈 but they do gradient nicely together. My fave grey in this collection is the Dark Side of the Mood. What do you think? Got it, want it, on the fence? I can’t personally expound much on the “Grey” trilogy, other than the 2nd installment of the books is named Fifty Shades Darker and the 3rd is Fifty Shades Freed. Both were published in 2012. But from what I’ve read from reviews of the trilogy, the story line is steamier than a July picnic in Louisiana! I may not be able to handle that, but I had no trouble with these fab polishes.

Wintery Fresh

Winters Fresh

I found a really fun nail art challenge today on Instagram. I’m in no way an expert in nail art…actually I’m a total noob. But it looked interesting and I needed an excuse to try a polish I purchased back in early Fall.

I can’t think of anything fresher than a Fresh mani using Revlon Parfumerie in Wintermint! By the way, I’ve found that Wintermint may be an unintended mildly textured lacquer. I’m totally fine with that and it smells awesome! I included a sprig of mint on my thumbnail and dots on my ring finger, compliments of Ncole by OPI in Candid Cameron.

Thanks to user @lalalovenailart, her Instagram post announcing a Californails January Nail Art Challenge (“The Totally Doable I Have A Life! Challenge”) LOL I love it! (By @californails). Tag @nailartjan.

For Jan. 03, Fresh is the subject. Challenges to follow will be on the 6th Sparkles, 9th Pattern, 11th Pastel Blue, 14th Nature, 16th Gradient, 19th Sweets, 22nd Studs, 25th Match OOTD, 28th Re-Creation, and the 31st Silver.

I’m not sure I can accomplish all of these. No, I will say I won’t even try, but I may manage a few more! It’s a great way to break into your untried bottles.
