Baroness X Dreamscape Part II shines!

I have been dying to get this review out to my lovely readers for a couple of weeks now. I received this set right at Christmastime and I was also recovering from being sick most of December. My sweet hubby just has double carpal tunnel surgery the other day, well, on our anniversary! Needless to say, we are healing up nicely, my company has departed and the dust has settled in our house. 😉 I’m so excited to finally share these four gorgeous polishes with you. The Baroness X Dreamscape Part II collection is a simply put, “DREAMY”! Let’s take a look at these fabulous indie creations!

The Dreamscape Pt. II collection is a set of 4 iridescent shifty micro flakies and thin metallic shard glitter polishes. Opacity: use 1-2 coats as a topper over any color you’d like, looks best over black or complimenting darker colors. From left/rear: Dynastic, Phantasmic, Surrealistic and Etheric.

The formulas are smooth and glide nicely over any basecoat (and it is recommended that you use a deep, dark or black underneath to really show how these babies pop). They dry fairly smooth and I recommend a thin topcoat. They wear really well. After swatching all four of these, I wore one of them for full week, plus a couple of days. Although easy to remove, I had very little tip wear and no chipping. On with the Dreamscapes!

First up, Etheric!

Etheric seems like it was made for a glossy black undercoat. Shown here is one thin coat over Chloe & Bella “Blackout”.

Etheric is described as: “Etheric is a glass flakie polish with fuschia glitter shards. The flakies are a larger size which promotes a strong multichrome effect. Facing forward you can see a bright teal and it shifts over to blue, purple and then fuschia. You can wear this on its own but it looks great over black or complimenting colors.”

Dynastic is a dynamo!

Dynastic shines golden with clever green/gold shifts over a deep blackened mahogany red by OPI, “I Sing in Color”.

Dynastic is described as: “a glass flakie polish with bright red glitter shards. The glass flakies are a larger size which promotes a strong multichrome effect. Facing forward you can see gold and it shifts over to green and blue. You can wear this on its own but it looks great over black or complimenting colors.”

Phantasmic is like peering into the Caribbean!

Phantasmic gives off a mermaidy sheen…a really fluid shade shifter. Here I used one thin coat over “Poison Ivy”, a deep blackened green shimmer by Wet ‘N Wild.

Phantasmic is described as: “…a glass flakie polish with green glitter shards. The glass flakies are a larger size which promotes a strong multichrome effect. Facing forward you can see a turquoise blue and it shifts over to a deeper blue and violet. You can wear this on its own but it looks great over black or complimenting colors.”

And Surrealistic is stunning!

Surrealistic simply glows over black polish! Here I used one coat over “Blackout” and topcoated with “Crystal Clear” by Chloe & Bella.

Surrealistic is described as: “…a glass flakie polish with blue glitter shards. The glass flakies are a larger size which promotes a strong multichrome effect. Facing forward you can see a pink leaning purple and it shifts over to orange/amber or gold. You can wear this on its own but it looks great over black or complimenting colors.”

SquareHue Decades Collection 1970 for 8.15 is here!

I KNEW this month’s collection for “1970s” would be boss! I was right and I’m so glad SquareHue was so diverse with the formulas in this box. Remember, SH typically has had 3 per box in its monthly delivery, and now offers a 2 polish set as well. Let’s move on to the review!

I LOVE this month’s Decades collection from SquareHue. 1970s for 08.15 is a huge hit! From left, Watergate, iPolish and Night Fever.

Here is Watergate. Gorgeous, that’s it in a nutshell!

Watergate is a super high gloss micro glitter shimmery blue polish with enough shine to carry you all day long. Ahh, Watergate, those were the days! Just kidding. This is a fairly sheer, but easy to apply polish. This is 3 coats and depending on how opaque or white your free-edge is, you will need 3-4 coats. But it’s easy application and smooth as silk. This kind of formula is great if you have to do more than 2 coats. The outcome is worth it!

iPolish is the most perfect 1-coater glossy white I’ve ever encountered!

iPolish is a fabulous ONE-COATER white creme. You heard that right. It’s SO pigmented, my jaw dropped as I applied it! Square Hue did a fabulous job creating this basic white, and its insane glossiness tops off a perfect…white…glossy…miracle!

Night Fever, a dance floor must-have! Just a little reference to John dancin’ the night away!

I used iPolish under this glittery topcoat with a little dancin’ hit movie reference thrown in for good measure. Dig the dance floor. mirror ball using “Night Fever”, and even the hairy chest under the black shirt w/white suit reference! I think Travolta himself may even approve. 😉

Neptune’s Bubbles mani inspired by Cult Cosmetics lacquers!

I was thinking about the cool clear ocean this morning, naturally while I was looking for some nail art inspo. I pulled out a few faves from my Cult Cosmetics collection and BOOM! A bubble mani featuring some cool blues. One of the quickest ways to take your mani from “meh” to “Oh My! is with nail dotting tools. Say hello to my undersea mani I call, Neptune’s Bubbles! Not that Neptune has anything to do with our ocean. But the blues, it’s all about blue! Did you know?…”Neptune’s atmosphere is made up of hydrogen, helium and methane. The methane in Neptune’s upper atmosphere absorbs the red light from the sun but reflects the blue light from the Sun back into space. This is why Neptune appears blue.” It’s a gassy planet, but hey, it’s blue!

I’m pretty stoked about how my seaside mani turned out. I called it, “Neptune’s Bubbles”! Over each nail I used the iridescent flaky topper called Hollywood Forever. Pinky nail is dark and shimmery House of Blues, middle finger is a creme, Catalina and pointer finger I used The Roxy. The accent nail (my inspo for Neptune’s Bubbles) I used all four with a dotting tool.

Here are the polishes used in today’s mani.

The Cult Cosmetics polishes I used for this fun maritime mani are, from top left: Hollywood Hills, House of Blues, Catalina and The Roxy.

• House of Blues, sorry, no link to this beauty. I couldn’t find it on the web site so it may be discontinued. If you do find it let me know! It’s a gorgeous cobalt blue shimmer, and a one coater. Just like the two cremes here, each only require one coat and super glossy.

• Catalina, described as, “Catalina is like a vacation to your favorite island. On a warm day, feel free to wear this bright and dreamy blue – and nothing else!”

• The Roxy, described as, “The Roxy is the new language of LA sass! This vibrant, feminine hue can take your mani from gentle to intense, depending on your mood. Name inspired on the renamed venue in Sunset blvd . Name inspired by the legendary nightclub on the Sunset strip. Bob Marley & the Wailers, The Ramones, RHCP and Gwen Stefani are some of the amazing musicians who played at The Roxy.”

• Hollywood Forever, described as, “Hollywood Forever is a light-shattering polish for next-dimension nails. Its opalescent glow and shining shades go on like magic over any base color.”

Four new beauties from Glitter Lambs!

Jamie, the owner/creator/operator of the indie nail polish (particularly glitter topper polishes) is never at rest it seems! She sent me four more glitters to share with you…my glitter-lovin’ followers! Without further ado, let’s take a look.

First up is a fabulously flexible and seriously loaded shade shifter. Wow, that was a mouthful! “I Found An Oyster Pearl” is a pretty white polish that when worn alone (ave. 2 coats) glows with various subtle shades. I tried a few scenarios here to give you an example of just how flexible she is!

I Found an Oyster Pearl is perfect alone, (middle finger); over black the gold really dominates, (pointer finger); over pink Zoya Eden, (ring finger); and over Glitter Lambs own Blue Buttercream Icing, (pinky finger).

And a single shade, reddish orange, that in the sun or shade looks like your nails are on fire!

I just had to throw this pic in. I wore this mani for a full week because I hated to take it off. My nails looked like they were on fire wearing one coat of I Found an Oyster Pearl over China Glaze Red-Y to Rave.

Bluebird in My Car is described as, “Bluebird In My Car is a clear base filled with lots of gorgeous tiny navy blue glitter! All very tiny glitter and nothing big and chunky.

What is summertime without a picnic? Here’s the cutest “Ant Picnic” I’ve every seen!

Ant Picnic is a densely filled micro glitter party in the park! Here she is in one light coat over Zoya Tiana.

Yes, piggies do take baths but in Jamie’s mind, they take bubble baths! Here is “Piggy Bubble Bath“!

Morgan Taylor Ooh LaLa collection is très jolie!

Morgan Taylor has nailed the sophisticated shades of French fashion with the new collection, Ooh LaLa. Oh the glitter, the glam! You’ll be on-trend and on-point wearing these four shades in any combination. They beg for nail art, from beginner to advanced, this palette will bring out the artist in you! Let’s take a look.

Bonjour mes amies! Presenting the Ohh LaLa collection of Morgan Taylor. Four gorgeous lacquers inspired by all thing fab, French and flirty! From left: Amour Color Please, Escar-Go To France, Postacards From Paris and Cancan We Dance?

Now, I took over four years of French in school, and now that I’m “mature”, I’ve lost a lot of my French conversational linguistics…badly! But every now and then, I’ll hear a word or phrase and some of it comes floating back to my lips. But I won’t torture you. It’s a good thing you don’t have to hear me! Anyway, let’s begin with the most perfect formula! They are all good, but this petite beauté had me oohing and ahhing! Amour Color Please is perfect.

Amour Color Please is a bright berry fuscia creme with a whisper of blue flash. This is one coat, that’s all you need! Perfect formula, very pigmented. Accented here with a bit of French whimsy and on the pinky, the glitter topper in the quad called Escar-Go To France.

Escar-Go To France is a sugary treat of multi pastels of complimentary colors to the whole collection. The added holographic silver sets it off perfectly. I love it over every shade in the set but over black, c’est magnifique!

Escar-Go To France is the perfectly complimentary glitter topper to the collection. The clear base is filled with multi-sized rounds and hexes from medium to small in pastels of tiffany blue, rosey pink, white, and holographic silver. One thin coat over any shade and super easy to remove, no glitter nightmares here!

Next up is Postcards From Paris. This very pigmented Tiffany creme just reminds me of springtime in Paris. I have a few shades like this, but this one is a much fresher shade.

Postcards From Paris is a gorgeous Tiffany turquoise creme. I used two coats and although it’s very pigmented, the first coat was every so slightly streaky. But the second coat makes it just right. On the accent nail is the glitter topper, Escar-Go to France over black.

And to finish off this quartette of fanciful and classy bunch, is Cancan We Dance? She’s a bit more of a free spirit this one! How can she help it? 😉 Her iridescent blue flash, look like the petite coats of a dance girl.

Cancan We Dance? is an elegant blushing coral creme, with the same hint of blue flash as Amour Color Please. The formula is a bit thinner and did require two coats.

Bottom line: I loved the inspiration of this collection. It’s always easier to me when a collection has a common theme. But just as important is the fact that the formulas and unique shades have to grab me. These really did!

Introducing the Chloe & Bella 2015 Spring collection

Mark your calendars for March 21st! This oh-so-spring collection from indie brand Chloe & Bella, the 2015 Spring Collection, will go on sale and you don’t want to miss any of the six mix ‘n match set. Here they are!

Here they are! The stunning Chloe & Bella 2015 Spring Collection. They are, from left, “Strawberry Cream, Strawberry Twinkle, Tangerine Cream, Tangerine Twinkle, Aubergine Twinkle and Aubergine Cream.

The formulas of the creams were consistent and easy to work with. No flooding and not overly thick with a nicely splaying brush. Although it’s hard to capture the iridescent flashes within each of the creams, believe me, they are there in full sun and well lit rooms. The glitter toppers are great formulas as well, each in clear bases. No fishing here as these formulas have plenty of multi-sized glitters without being chunky on the nail. I found that they applied so smoothly you really don’t need a glitter filling top coat for any of them.

Let’s start off with the Tangerines! Tangerine Cream…

Tangerine Cream is a smooth 2-coater with flashes of purple iridescent shimmer. Hard to capture in the photo but believe me, it’s breathtaking!

Tangerine Cream is described as, “Tangerine Cream is a deliciously yummy orange pastel cream that reminds me of those wonderful Creamsicles of my younger days. Tangerine Cream consists of a fluid and creamy polish that also contains a surprising purple iridescent shimmer. This polish is opaque in two easy coats.”

Tangerine Twinkle, her outspoken sister!

Tangerine Twinkle is perfectly paired up to it’s sister, Tangerine Cream, but I’m tempted to think outside the box and pair her over Strawberry Cream! Ohh, ahh!

Tangerine Twinkle is described as, “Tangerine Twinkle is a sparkling glitter-filled topper that begins with a clear base and is filled to the top with delicious glitters and is then amped up to the next level with holographic glitters that give it an extra shiny spark. Glitters include: matte peach and white hex, metallic orange hex, and holo orange hex.”

Everyone needs a dreamy pink in their springtime collection. Here we have Strawberry Cream.

Strawberry Cream is a luscious 2-coater with a shimmer to take it from a beautiful cream to a fabulous pink stunner!

Strawberry Cream is described as, “Strawberry Cream is a delectable warm-pink pastel cream that looks good enough to eat (but please don’t!) Strawberry Cream consists of a fluid and creamy polish that also contains a surprising orange and gold shimmer. This polish is opaque in two easy coats.”

And to top it off like a Sundae, here is Strawberry Twinkle!

Strawberry Twinkle over Strawberry Cream is the perfect spring pair!

Strawberry Twinkle is described as, “Strawberry Twinkle is a sparkling glitter-filled topper that begins with a clear base and is filled to the top with delicious glitters and is then amped up to the next level with holographic glitters that give it an extra shiny spark. Glitters include: matte light pink and white hex, metallic pink hex, crystal clear fuchsia hex, and holo pink hex.”

And finally, the Aubergines! Now, I had to look up this word because frankly, I didn’t know what it meant! 😉 Aubergine is actually another word for eggplant! Now, although this could be a pastel version of that deep purple squash, you’ll see the true eggplant shade in it’s sister’s glitter. Here is Aubergine Cream.

Aubergine Cream is a great 2-coat polish with a bit of iridescent flash. I accented her with a light layer of Aubergine Twinkle.

Aubergine Cream is described as, “Aubergine Cream is a luscious purple pastel cream. Aubergine Cream consists of a fluid and creamy polish that also contains a surprising blue iridescent shimmer. This polish is opaque in two easy coats.”

And paired with the cream this glitter is too gorgeous. Here is the last of the collection Aubergine Twinkle.

Aubergine Twinkle is a gorgeous mixed purple glitter topper in a smooth clear base. Perfect to pair over Aubergine Cream!

Reminiscent of Easter egg colors and springtime blooms, you’ll definitely want this collection. I highly recommend them!

Glitter Lambs Fashion Makeover collection swatches

Jamie from Glitter Lambs, maker of amazing indie glitter toppers, has done it again! I think she must just look around in her day-to-day life and envision every pretty thing as a potential glitter polish 🙂 Today I’ll be sharing my swatches from the upcoming collection, Fashion makeover. These will be released and ready for purchase on March 14th. Here is the lineup:

Let’s start off with a brilliant green glitter called Lime Green Eyeshadow.

Lime Green Eyeshadow is described as, a clear base filled with neon green hex, iridescent glitters and pastel glitters.

Here is Lilac Mascara. What? You don’t have any? 😉 It’s gorgeous on nails!

Lilac Mascara is described as, a clear base filled with lavender stars, iridescent glitters and pastel glitters.

Here is Baby Blue Eyeliner. Factoid: this makes a great shade for your inner lash line to brighten your eyes!

Baby Blue Eyeliner is described as, a clear base filled with blue mini stars, iridescent glitters and pastel glitters.

Candy Lip Balm is a delicate glitter topper and will look great over any base coat of polish.

Candy Lip Balm is described as, a clear base filled with mini pink stars, iridescent glitters and pastel glitters.

And finally to complete the collection is Golden Honey Foundation.

Golden Honey Foundation is described as, a clear base filled with yellow mini stars, iridescent glitters and pastel glitters.

Remember, these are set for release on March 14th! Jamie explains, “This collection will be the same formula that is in their “It’s Snowing Cotton Candy” glitter topper”. The iridescent glitters that we used in these polishes create a thicker gel like formula. These toppers ARE TOTALLY GORGEOUS!” I have to agree. Two new kids on the block from Glitter Lambs

Indie polishes are so much fun. Why? Indie polish makers take risks, think outside the box, seemingly have no limits and they HAVE FUN with their creations. Jamie, owner and creator of Glitter Lambs polishes is a perfect example of that and every time I see a new creation I applaud her in my head! Stop picturing that, LOL, it may be too much to handle! Jamie sent me a whole new batch of newbies now available in her store. Today I’ll share two of them with you.

Glitter Lambs’ new Sun Dazzler Glaze (on the bottom) is an amazing lightweight quick drying iridescent glaze that will make any undercoat really rise and shine! Gorgeous on darker shades, a brilliant shine-maker on medium to pale shades. On the right Cotton Candy Bubble Bath is a feast for the eyes. 1 layer on top of any shade is a great way to start your day!

So, today is March 2nd and after living in this part of Missouri for such a long time I’ve grown aware that just because the calendar clicks over to March, doesn’t mean in any way that spring is here. Oh, the daffodils and early risers take the bait. But Mother Nature doesn’t have me fooled a bit. As I sit here looking at the artic wind blowing the 20 degree air over a frozen layer of snow, just let me say, “Mom, I’ve got your number.” Now picture me holding two fingers in front of my eyes and pointing back at her! lol, Okay, rant over. I MISS THE SUN! Not only for warmth and the ability to thaw, but I prefer natural daylight filled with sunshine to take my swatch photos. But we tarry on. I may have to revisit this page when the sun decides to kick Mother Nature to the curb!

Here is Sun Dazzler Glaze (the gorgeous top coat that makes me wish for sunshine once again)!

Here is Sun Dazzler Glaze over Zoya Indigo. Really Sun Dazzler Glaze is fabulous over any color in the sunshine, but it’s even more amazing over dark shades like black, browns, and Indigo is a super deep blue. I have waited a week to get a chance to photograph this top coat sparkler in the sunshine and Old Man Winter has not cooperated. Take it from me, even in artificial light this one is a polish transformer!

Here is how Jamie of Glitter Lambs describes Sun Dazzler Glaze: “Sun Dazzler Glaze glitter topper indie nail polish ONLY does well in the SUNLIGHT! This will not twinkle that great indoors. This glitter topper LOVES THE SUNLIGHT! So if your hitting the outdoors for the day or the beach then you seriously need this GORGEOUS glitter topper. This shows up very well over black and darker colors. It does semi-okay over lighter colors but does not have a strong shift like it would over the darker colors. Sun Dazzler Glaze is a .004 flake but looks more like glitter dust. It is a micro color changing glitter from Aqua Blue-To-Purple. I mostly see blue green when I look at it though.”

The other glitter topper I have to show you today is Cotton Candy Bubble Bath. Wow, this one is full of glitter goodies. LOL I tried to picture taking a bubble bath in cotton candy and just came up with fighting ants afterwards! 😉 But I love the polish!

Cotton Candy Bubble Bath is loaded as you can see. A super fun top coat with everything but the kitchen sink. Great for gradients as you can see, or over any shade. I painted her over Lost Labyrinth by the 2015 CND Vinylux Garden Muse collection.

Cotton Candy Bubble Bath contains: White Leopard Glitters, Pink Leopard Glitters, Pink Hex Square, Turquoise Holographic Shreds, White Circles, White Hex, .008 Holographic Rainbow Hex Mix, White Stars, White Squares
Rainbow Iridescent hex .008, Gold Hearts, Arctic Blue Dots, Pink Hex .008, Pink Mini Stars, Pink Stars Normal Size, Gold Stars, White Donut Glitters, Neon Glitter Mix in different sizes , Violet Holographic Dots, Pink and White Glitter Mix in different shapes and sizes, Gold and Silver Hex Mix in different sizes and shapes. And all of these glitters go into an Ultrafine Hologram twinkling suspension base.
