ILNP Fall 2015 swatches…and I’m on the home stretch!

I’m down to three ILNP Fall polishes after this and I’m ecstatic with today’s entry. Presenting Cameo (H), Clockwork and After Midnight. These are all different formulas and finishes so it was fun to mix it up today. Let’s see how different they are!

First up is Cameo (H), Cameo’s big sister. It’s a holographic version and the color shifts are nearly countless depending on angle, lighting and even the amount of coats used! I used 2 and it’s suggested 2-3.

Ultra Chromes by ILNP are amazing and Cameo (H) is the holo version of it's sister, Cameo. And of course, you can't just show one angle of these beauties because they are multi-shaded. Here in a shadier angle you can see shades of green, copper, gold and magenta.

Yes, same Cameo (H)…amazing huh?

Cameo (H) in sunlight or flash really lets that purple shine through.

Cameo (H) is described as, "a holographic version of the original Cameo Ultra Chrome polish! The new Cameo (H) contains just the right amount of holographic splendor to add a beautiful rainbow sparkle to the polish. All without ruining the intense color shift effect! Cameo (H) effortlessly shifts through an incredible array of vivid pink, purple, copper, gold, and a stunningly vibrant green. Quite similar to the Masquerade Ultra Chrome, Cameo (H) leans more pink and has an even stronger color shifting effect. Cameo (H) is part of ILNP’s "Ultra Chrome" class of multichromatic nail polishes; formulated to apply directly to the nail without the need for a base color. Fully opaque in 2-3 coats!"

Clockwork is perfect for fall, glitzy but very classy.

Clockwork is one of those classy metallics that really attract attention. Wear this baby and you won't even feel like you need jewelry! 2 coats!

The assortment of metallic flakes coupled with a range of holographic particles, all dipped in a silky beige base, give Clockwork a truly unique combination of class and head turning vibrancy. Here are a few fabulous facts for your shopping pleasure.

What is your vegan/cruelty free policy?
ILNP absolutely does not test our products on animals nor do we purchase materials from suppliers that do. We make a conscious effort to avoid purchasing animal/insect derived materials like carmine and guanine/pearl, etc. as there are plenty of synthetic alternatives that perform the same or even better.

Are your nail polishes 3-Free?
Yes! All ILNP nail polishes are 3 free! They DO NOT contain Toluene, Formaldehyde, or Dibutyl Phthalate.

What does 3-Free mean?
3-Free means that our nail polishes do not contain Toluene, Formaldehyde, or Dibutyl Phthalate. These 3 ingredients were previously used in most nail polish formulations until recent studies found them to be potentially harmful or irritable to humans. While these chemicals aren’t illegal to use in nail polish (although California law requires special labeling if used), most large brands have already moved to 3-Free formulas at the urge of educated consumers as well as organizations that campaign for safe cosmetics.”

Baroness X Nail Lacquer new collection, NeoElectro trio is coming soon!

First, let me get a tiny bit of business out-of-the-way. As you know (if you follow me on Instagram, and you should 😉 We have been planning a big move to Texas from Missouri. Now that has happened as of Monday, I’m slowly getting back to a bit of my regular posting routine. Sorry if it seems my blog presence has been a bit spotty in the past month. After living in the same home for 17 years, moving, fixing, sorting, purging and packing was more daunting than I imagined! But we’ve accomplished this phase (moving into our daughter and her hubby’s home while we househunt) and we are super pleased to be here! I’m getting caught up with my posts, which the next few are swatches I had already done before our trip and now time to post! I also trimmed the length of my nails down to keep them from breaking too badly during the move. Thank you for your patience.

Now for the important schtuff! lol This is my first experience with indie brand, Baroness X Nail Lacquer and I couldn’t be more pleased with this cute collection, NeoElectro. Owner, Demi Lee, also has a lot of other gorgeous polishes on her site as well. These formulas are all top notch, and really unique. They are set to release on July 29th, just around the corner. Let’s take a look!

The Neo Electro collection from left: FluoroFizz, Electric Sparks and Neon Bubbles. Each set comes with a set of Flair Free Mani Bombs and 4 hair ties! These are healthy minis in 8 ml size, which cost $18. The full size set (15 ml) size set is $27 and you can purchase full size individually for $10 ea.

First up is FluroFizz and I’ll share with you images both in direct sunlight and a well-lit room.

FluoroFizz is a gorgeous neon pink jelly filled with Spectraflair in the base and the glitters are a mix of matte and holo black glitter (the large circles are holo and some of the smaller glitters are as well. It loves the sun!

Next up is the brilliant Electric Sparks. This one really has kaboom!

Electric Sparks in the sun is gorgeous! I say gorgeous with a singing voice! lol On the ring finger you'll notice I painted one coat over white for an in-your-face highlighter effect. Or you can wear it slightly toned down with 3-4 coats over the bare nail. Easy to apply, easy to remove.

Electric Sparks in indoor natural light. You can still see the glitzy sterling silver flakies even without direct sunlight. Stunning!

And a macro shot of Electric Sparks because it’s just mesmerizing!

Macro of Electric Sparks. So simple but complex to describe. The highlighter yellow/green jelly base contains various small sizes of silver flakies. This gives them the appearance of having a golden hue, especially in the sun. It stunning! This is the nail with one coat over a white base.

And the third in this little collection is Neon Bubbles. How cute is this one?!

Neon Bubbles, even the name is fun! Here she is in full sunlight. I didn't try her alone, but this is one coat, smooth as silk. over a deep fuscia gloss. NB is filled with neon micro glitters of pink, aqua, yellow, green, and black. I think I got them all, oh and holo glitter.

Thanks so much for reading! All in all, I’m super impressed and highly recommend these polishes. Go check out Demi’s other collections while you are at it. Lots and lots of pretties!

SquareHue Decades Collection 06.15 1950s is cool!

I love this month’s installment from the monthly subscription service, SquareHue! Bright, happy and vibrant high gloss cremes take us down memory lane to the 1950s. It was such a happy time with many firsts of the century. Disneyland opened in 1955, Elvis was king, and Alaska joined the USA in 1959. The post war boom brought about many new technologies. What a great time! But enough of the history lesson, let’s take a look at these babies!

SquareHue Decades Collection for 06.15 is 1950s. Brilliant selection of high gloss cremes SH! From left: Palm Springs 1950, Belair 1957 and Sock Hop 1958.

First up is Palm Springs 1950!

Palm Springs 1950 is a bright but not quite neon green. Although is starts out streaky, 3 thin coats is all it takes for a perfect finish.

I want to clear something up while we are discussing the Palm Springs shade. It is not a dupe for 04.14’s Beethoven Straat. See below.

I had to bring something to light. Since swatches and bottle shots have begun to appear on blogs and social media, I've noticed a bit of discussion about these two polishes. Some have complained that Palm Springs from the Decades collection for June is simply a renamed dupe for Beethoven Straat from April 2014. Nope! As you can see here and on my nail swatches, both are indeed light nearly neon green. However, Beethoven Straat is a bit of a milkier formula giving it a creamier appearance and lighter as well. Palm Springs is a deeper version of Beethoven Straat and not as milky. Clearly two different polishes. No dupes here.

Now that we have that out-of-the-way, let’s move on to Bel Air 1957.

Finally, here is Sock Hop 1958. I want to disclose that I never got to go to one because I was only 3 years old at the time 😉

Sock Hop 1958 is a bubblegum pink and such a glorious shine it will make you want to dance and shout! Each shade I used three coats but this one seems a bit more pigmented and you could get away with two.

Final thoughts. I love this collection even though they were all the same finish. When they are this glossy and fabulous, I say bring ’em on! All were on the thin side, but no pooling. I used three coats with each although the Sock Hop seemed a bit thicker and more pigments. You could get by with two.

Four new beauties from Glitter Lambs!

Jamie, the owner/creator/operator of the indie nail polish (particularly glitter topper polishes) is never at rest it seems! She sent me four more glitters to share with you…my glitter-lovin’ followers! Without further ado, let’s take a look.

First up is a fabulously flexible and seriously loaded shade shifter. Wow, that was a mouthful! “I Found An Oyster Pearl” is a pretty white polish that when worn alone (ave. 2 coats) glows with various subtle shades. I tried a few scenarios here to give you an example of just how flexible she is!

I Found an Oyster Pearl is perfect alone, (middle finger); over black the gold really dominates, (pointer finger); over pink Zoya Eden, (ring finger); and over Glitter Lambs own Blue Buttercream Icing, (pinky finger).

And a single shade, reddish orange, that in the sun or shade looks like your nails are on fire!

I just had to throw this pic in. I wore this mani for a full week because I hated to take it off. My nails looked like they were on fire wearing one coat of I Found an Oyster Pearl over China Glaze Red-Y to Rave.

Here is I Found an Oyster Pearl in the bottle and closeup.

I Found An Oyster Pearl is described as, "I Found An Oyster Pearl This is a pearl nail polish with flashes of Blue, Green and Gold. You can wear it on it's own with three coats for full coverage or you can do 1 coat over another color to cause an amazing effect to your polish!"

Next is a breathtaking patriotic blue glitter and boy is “Bluebird In My Car” densely packed!

Bluebird In My Car just looks patriotic blue to me! With having just celebrated Memorial day and July 4th only a month away, you'll want to have this beauty on hand. The red here is Zoya Sooki and the white is White Out by Chloe & Bella.

Zoya Paradise Sun – Pt. 1 of 2 Summer 2015 Collections

I literally just got home from a week’s vacation at the beach and had the best nail mail waiting for me! In fact, if we had left for Florida just a couple days later I’d have had these to take with me to swatch at the beach. How fitting that would have been! But either way, my anticipation to test Zoya’s sun-loving shades did not disappoint. Today I’ll be sharing the first half of 12 new summertime shades, Paradise Sun.

Paradise Sun from top and clockwise: Mae, Selene, Aphrodite, Oceane, Isa and Genisis. It's a coincidence that I should get back from my beach vacation and have these waiting for me to swatch! I'd have love to have them with me, but it would be hard to choose which color to wear every day.

I’ll start with the paleface of the bunch, Genesis. She’s a delicate and beautiful white with that diamond dust finish that makes it “not your mother’s white polish”! This was the only formula that was slightly difficult in that it was thick and a bit gloopy. But the second coat corrected it’s sins. 😉

Genesis is described as, "a crystalline white with a micronized metallic pearl finish - designed to look like micro-fine diamond dust!" This formula from the Paradise Sun collection is thicker than the rest. Therefore it was my problem child in the bunch but the outcome is worth the extra effort. This took two coats to level out and it dried twice as slow as the rest. Still, who doesn't like a glitzy white in the summer?

Still, who doesn’t like a glitzy white in the summer?

Next up is Mae. She really reminds me of petals of a Bougainvillea vine. Simply divine and tropical!

Mae is described as, "a warm magenta pink with a micronized metallic pearl finish, reminiscent of vibrant Mediterranean flowers." As with the other colors of this collection, Isa went on smooth as silk and is a 1-2 coater!

Next up is Selene. She didn’t stain in case you’re wondering but I only wore her long enough to swatch. If you’re worried, just wear a good base coat like Zoya Anchor.

Selene is described as, "a true teal with a micronized metallic pearl finish. A unique shade with an aqua fleck that resembles deeper layers of ocean water." Very mermaidy don't you think? Love this formula. I really wish Genesis had the same formula as the colors in Paradise Sun.

Here’s that sexy vixen, Aphrodite!

Aphrodite is described as, "a vibrant summer red with a micronized pearl metallic finish and multi-hued flash that brings it to life. Think of fresh and juicy tropical fruit!" Great formula, smooth as butter to apply and nearly a 1-coater.

Oceane is a must-have summer color. Like Selene, it’s a mermaidy, oceany shade that makes you want to run out to the ocean and jump right in.

Oceane is described as, "a true turquoise with a micronized metallic pearl finish that reflects the clearest blue ocean waters!" Perfect in every way! This is one coat and you might need two, but I was quite pleased with one. Oh this color and finish. I just got back from the beach then I put this on and I'm ready to return!

Isa is a juicy metallic purple leaning blue. Deep and mysterious.

Isa is described as, "a deep blue-based purple with a micronized metallic pearl finish and an aqua flash that embodies the beauty of exotic island flowers!" Amazing formula and like butta to apply! One coat here but you might need two depending on your technique and nails.

Bottom line: I loved all the formulas of the colors, but white Genesis left me a bit frustrated by comparison. I think this is a common issue with white like this with pearl finishes. So I’ll give it a pass. Because after you get it on and dry, the looks is so fresh and delicate, you’ll end up loving it. I literally had NO cleanup with any of the 6 shades because the combination of the formulas and superb brush made application effortless (no cleanup needed on Genesis but overall application was a bit of a pain for me personally). Colors? Amazing! Finishes are nothing new but still it’s a great ensemble of summery shades to fire up your fingers and toes.

PARADISE SUN (metallics)
Fully saturated with a gorgeous micronized metallic sheen, these shimmering beauties are much like sunshine sparkling on water. Meant to be used as an independent color, these shades feature a full-coverage, densely pigmented formula.

Tomorrow I’ll be posting my review on the Island Fun collection. You’re gonna melt when you see these!

Some oceany new blues from Madam Glam!

You won’t be singing the “Summertime Blues” with these three new shades from Madam Glam. Each one will get your heart singing and ready for the beach days ahead. All three are different textures and all equally fun. Great formulas all around. Let’s take a look!

Here are some perfect summertime shades that remind me of the clear ocean shades of my beloved Emerald Coast on the Florida Panhandle! If you love beachy, mermaid shades and textures, these are for you! From left: Ibiza, Disco Ball and Diva.
Here are some perfect summertime shades that remind me of the clear ocean shades of my beloved Emerald Coast on the Florida Panhandle! If you love beachy, mermaid shades and textures, these are for you! From left: Ibiza, Disco Ball and Diva.

We will start off with Ibiza. Don’t you love that name?! Sounds so classy. I had to shoot this on a cloudy day and really wanted you to see how the shimmer comes out. But April here in the Ozarks changes like nobody’s business. Oh well!

Ibiza is described as: "Sky Blue. Is this the perfect shade for a long vacation? We think so. Shimmery with a hint of green and simply gorgeous! Very subtle shimmers. One to two coats for full opacity." I used two smooth coats, slightly thicker than the cremes but nicely self leveling. This has more of a green cast than most "sky blues" but definitely summery!

Next is Disco Ball. And she is ready to partaaay! This one is loaded and super easy to apply.

Disco Ball is described as: "Blue Glitters You are fun and playful? These blue glitters will make you dance whenever you wear them. The perfect pop of sparkle! Blue glitters in a transparent base. One coat for an even coverage." I used one easy, no-fishing coat over black and white. I love the larger blue glitters because they are smooth, yet have some dimension.

And the last one, because you know you’re not a “Diva” unless you’re fashionably late, Diva!

Diva is described as: "A glittery blue Blend in with the sea and the sky! Blues and greens put in glitter, make this nail polish a one of a kind item, that you cannot resist! Two thin coats for full opacity." I used two thin coats and it dries slightly textured. I added a clear top coat. She's a Diva, but she's a beauty!

Summery new shades from Madam Glam!

Today I want to share with you a few of the new shades (available now) from Madam Glam. I’ll start with four polishes today but I’ve got a ton more to share with you from this fabulous indie brand! Let’s get started!

Here they are:

Today I'm sharing the first set of so many new delightful shades that have joined the Madam Glam fam! Cremes and a jelly, From left, are: Lucky Bamboo, Cashmere, Summer Nights and Holy Yellow.

First up is a creme that will surely get attention this summer! First up is Lucky Bamboo. So fresh 🙂

Oh how I DO love this one! My camera couldn't handle the brightness but I think I pretty much captured it's bleached out neonness (yes, I went there) of this pale green. I have not acquired a tan yet (too much rain here this spring) but these kinds of shades "luckily" will make you think you have one! Two easy coats to glossy perfection.

Next is a refreshing orange called Summer Nights.

Ahh, we all love Summer Nights and I'm excited to see this lovely tangerine creme with my favorite time of year. 2 coats.

You know it has to be summertime around the corner when the yellows show up. Here is Holy Yellow.

Ahh, Holy Yellow! You toyed with my camera but this jelly will make your yellow lovin' friends jellie! It takes 2 to 3 coats for full opacity as is the way with most jellies but dries nice and glossy. It reminds me of those lemon drop candies! Ooh, I just got an idea! Add a bit of sugary top coat for a real Lemon Drop mani! Hmmm...

And last for today is a delicate pale grey, Cashmere.

Cashmere glides on to a perfect and glossy finish in 2 coats. I love this kind of pale dove grey. I think it would make a perfect office appropriate shade!
