I’ve been sitting on this gorgeous neon for a couple of months now. And I’m kicking myself! Yesterday’s NOTD happened using China Glaze “Grass Is Lime Greener”. It’s from the spring release collection City Flourish and I fell instantly in love with this green. It’s neon, but a softer, gentler neon.
GILG is a perfect yellowish green that lights up on the nail. Seriously lights up! I was driving home from town last night at dusk and my nails seemed to glow. Not to mention how it makes your skin seem a bit more tanned. As with all neons, I always layer it over a coat of white to make it pop. Then with this mani I remembered I had some cute little fimo slices of kiwi so I cut them in half and placed them on my half moons. Then I added a thin layer of Krystal top coat by Nubar for that extra element of sparkle.
This is just one of those summertime manis I could rock for days. Well, at least until my next nail mail arrives! Any day now 🙂 I’m about to embark on our beach vacation and trying to decide which polishes I’m bringing with me. Definitely neons! So what types of polishes do you take on your vacation? Brights, nudes, textures? Oooh, wouldn’t it be cool if someone would come up with a neon texture! I mean, in your face, glowy, blindingly neon textures? I’d buy those in a white sandy beach minute! 🌴🐚🌴
You can find China Glaze at your local Sally Beauty Supply, Ulta, and many other beauty supply stores beside http://www.chinaglaze.com. And Nubar lacquers at http://www.bynubar.com. A special thank you to my sweet YouTube and IG friend, Sodalovestar for the gorgeous Nubar mini of Krystal! It’s a gorgeous holo flaky topcoat and perfect over neons!
I bought the China Glaze with my own money and all opinions are my own.

It was only a matter of time. These are simply the cutest, “Kawaii” polish bottles I’ve ever seen. I didn’t set out on shopping day to bring home nail polish intended for little girls but the display at my local Walmart stopped me dead in my tracks. It was an end cap and not really near the other polishes. Sly Walmart…very sly 😉
Hello Kitty display at Walmart.
Besides this pale blue HK, no names, a raspberry pink kitty also followed me home. I haven’t tried the other one yet. Now, these HK polishes by Sanrio ( http://www.sanrio.com ) are .47 fl oz, non-toxic and peelable. I’m looking forward to seeing how that works. But I have to admit, it smells like Elmer’s Glue! Imagine that. I had to use three coats, no base coat and the first two layers are sheer and streaky. To be expected. Third coat went on fine and I embellished my cute mani with some fimo flowers and a kitty. Plus I topped a few of my nails with a thin layer of China Glaze Fairy Dust. You know a girl’s gotta have some sparkle right? The brush is a nice size and easy to work with. This dries fairly fast and pretty glossy for a glue based polish. The big ole kitty doesn’t remove for application but that suited me just fine. I found it easy to hold this way. Not too sure about a 5-year-old managing it with their tiny hands.
I wanted to mention, after all the swatching I had to catch up on today, and days forthcoming, I wanted finish off with the blue mani in honor of Autism Awareness for the month of April. No matter what colors I swatch and review, I’ll be finishing my day with a blue themed mani all April!
If I was to give these adorable polishes a score on the scale of 1-10, I’d give it an 8! There are 12 beautiful shades to choose from and they are $2.97 at Walmart. Availability may be seasonal, I have no idea, but you might contact your Walmart store for details. I can’t give you a report on it’s longevity because if you know me, that’s moot! Speaking of kitties…here’s my real kitty, Hermione!
My own Hello Kitty, Hermione! She’s not white but she’s just as cute! 😉
Even though we are still in the icy grip of winter, my eyes have turned toward the springy shades that abound on nail polish racks. It’s no secret, I don’t do winter! I do love the warm and vampy colors of the cold season. But I’m ready to put those to bed.
Naturally I embrace all shades of Spring and Summer. I’m a sucker for all variations of lavenders, orchids and purples. When I saw Sweet Hook by China Glaze on that Sally’s Beauty polish rack, I knew it had to come home with me. Today I was pondering what my NOTD should be. And since we are expecting yet another winter blast this week, the rebel in me, sitting on my left shoulder whispered, “…go with that spring shade. You know you want to…” So here we are! I paired her with a French tip look using Zoya’s Stevie Pixie Dust. Then added a little fimo butterfly…or “flutterby” as my niece used to say when she was little! 🙂
I’m loving my NOTD!
In any language, green is glamorous. I bought this glorious green shimmer by Rimmel for a Christmas mani and never got around to using it. In the bottle “Rags to Riches” would appear to have a slight blackened duo shimmer. But on the nail it’s just a warm, glossy, shimmery green. It is semi opaque, so two coats is perfect. The formula is a joy to apply and the consistency is perfect. Although it dries quick, and glossy, I wanted to get to my next step, applying accents. I added a quick layer of Seche Vite. By the way, this collection claims to have the stamina to 10-days, but you know me. I could never go that long without changing shades!
I had just picked up a backup bottle of Seche Vite at Sally’s Beauty on the last day of their promo. You get one free bottle of China Glaze when you purchase a bottle of Seche Vite. So this glitzy bottle caught my eye, Ray-Diant. Oooh, another Prismatic I haven’t seen! I have two other shades of CG’s amazing Prismatic Chroma collection (Full Spectrum and Liquid Crystal), and I LOVE them. They are total glitter bombs and yet they go on glossy and smooth. Amazing 🙂
Ray-Diant is a perfect accent for Rags to Riches and why not a sparkly French look? Mai’s oui! One coat of the glitter over Rags on the accent nail and voilà. So glam yet classy. I know it’s February now. And I promise you I’ll have plenty of lovey dovey manis to share. I had to get this très verte mani out of my system first. And believe me, if I keep adding to my polish collection like this, the story will be more like, “riches to rags”! 😉
By the way, if you’re in Instagram, I’m having a Mini Mani Giveaway soon. My user name is lacqueredlori, and you must be a follower here and my IG to enter, so why not “follow” me now? It’s coming soon so stay tuned.
Okay, my eyes “Glazed” over with these beauties. I’m a sucker for sparkle and deep rich tones.
The holographic mylar in Luxe and Lush just makes you think of Christmas ornaments, snow and angels. It’s sure to be a great topper with it’s clear base and multi-colored opal flakes.
Thanks to my daughter, Christen, who says Ruby Pumps is hands down China Glaze’s best color, I caved yesterday and bought it. Oh yes, this one is primo and will surely be sitting on my fingers come holiday time. Oh, and guess what? I’m about to show you a couple of CHEAP, near perfect dupes. But read on.
Liquid Crystal is one of three (that I found at Sally Beauty) glitters that are heavily loaded with multiple sizes of fine to medium glitters. It looks like two-three coats can stand alone with this one. LC’s primary glitter is blue in a clear base, accompanied by teal, pink, silver and oranged glitters, with micro holo glitters. The other two I left on the shelf (I’m not made of money) were pink themed and lavendar themed.
The non-glitter selection I made yesterday was this DEEEP plumy jelly called Evening Seduction. Yes, it seduced me, obviously. 😉
So there you have it. A good haul of CGs considering my other purchases the same day. So many beauties, so few digits.
