Virago’s Hollywood Glamour collection and swatches!

When I chatted with indie polish brand Virago Varnish‘s owner/creator, Adrienne about her upcoming collection, I kept getting more and more excited. One, because her formulas and colors are awesome. Two, I knew ahead of time the glitters in this set would be beyond belief. I was right! I will add to that and echo her excitement that one of the glitters in the set came with an honor every indie polish maker dreams about. She says, “Virago is excited to announce this stunning lacquer Radiance. It will be gifted at GBK’s Celebrity Gift Lounge honoring the 2015 MTV Movie Awards Nominees and Presenters!” How cool is that?! I will start there after I show you the bottles! 🙂

4 fab glitter polishes. On top is Radiance and from L-R: Stellar, Allure and Glamorous.

Radiance!

I shot all the glitter polishes in full sun (and thank you Sun for appearing yesterday when I shot these!). Just for fun I did a gradient over a pale blue on the accent nail. This baby sure shines!

I LOVE Radiance! It glows on your nail is sun or regular lighting. Radiance is described as, "Radiance couldn't be a better fitting name for this lacquer. The holographic effect is so compelling that you'll be staring at your nails all day. The holographic glitter in this lacquer is nostalgic of a 1960’s jacquard dinner dress."

Allure!

Who can resist a polish like Allure? Seriously smooth, like Glamorous and although no topcoat is require over these two coats, you could use that if you're wanting to do stamping over this GORGEOUS holo glitter. I didn't want to take it off!

Allure is one of those holos you don't want to take off. Did I mention it's smooth as a baby's "you-know-what"? Allure is described as, "Inspired by 1940s Old Hollywood, Allure does not disappoint. It’s like having a vintage sliver sequenced chiffon dress in a bottle. The holo in this lacquer is so intense that all eyes will be on your nails." Opacity: Fully opaque in approximately 2-3 coats.

Glamorous!

Ok, as I painted this one on I was seriously and immediately in love. Then it dried smooth and I was like, "whaaaa?" All that glitzyness and smooth as silk. I did a gradient over Majestic.

Glamorous, all I can say is "WOW"! Also super smooth! Glamorous is described as, "Like a vintage 1950s black tulle Chantilly lace dress. Glamorous is a classy holographic micro-glitter lacquer in a black jelly base. The holo effect in this lacquer is mesmerizing." Finish: Semi Matte, Micro-Glitter Opacity: Fully opaque in approximately 2-3 coats.

Stellar!

Stellar is right! And look at her over black, wow! It's like holographic blue sugar!

Stellar is such a gorgeous glitter and I love those little hints of purple. Stellar is described as, "Inspired by a 1950s flocked Chiffon dress, Stellar is a dazzling lacquer with various holographic micro-glitters in a clear base. As with all glitter lacquers from the Hollywood Glamour collection, Stellar also possesses intense holographic display." Opacity: Fully opaque in approximately 2-3 coats.

I will start with one that is very limited so you’re going to want to get your hands on this stunner Exclusive (maybe two?) before they are gone.

Well, Exclusive is named this for a reason. It's a LTD polish, so you may want to order a couple!

Exclusive is, oh my gosh, perfection! I can see why it's name that. ONE COATER! Totally! Exclusive is described as, "Reminiscent of a 1940s champagne evening gown worn by old Hollywood’s best, Exclusive is a beautiful pearlescent lacquer. Only limited quantities of this lacquer are available. This lacquer will not be restocked." Finish: Pearlescent, Semi-matte Opacity: Opaque in 1-2 coats

This holiday season China Glaze introduces a palette that allows you to reflect on the season and celebrate color, with glitters and shades to melt for. The spirit of the season is captured by sparkles in the night, soft glowing lights and visions of the new year. This cute kit includes: Tip Your Hat – 0.5 oz., Chillin’ With My Snow-mies – 0.5 oz., and Out Like A Light – 0.5 oz. with a FREE Mirror and Pouch.

Tip Your Hat and Out Like a Light are both great formulas. Chillin With My Snow-mies in its clear base, is basically a matte glitter topper I found easier to manage by dobbing a bit onto a piece of aluminum foil and picking up the pieces of glitter with a stick and placing where I wanted.

Out Like a Light is a highly pigmented charcoal grey. I accented this mani using Tip Your Hat and glitter placement using Chillin' With My Snow-mies (which sits in a clear base).

Tip Your Hat is a nice, traditional Christmas red creme. Accented here with matte white glitters contained in Chillin' With My Snow-mies

NOTE of Thanks: I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and I especially want to thank all my readers and followers for supporting me with love, thoughts and prayers as our family continues to endure the tough job of caring for my husband’s mom here in our home. The past month has been the hardest I’ve ever known, and the job of caring for an end-stage COPD hospice patient is more than I thought I could ever handle. But we’ve persevered with much prayer and the strength of the Lord. My blog and social community of friends has indeed helped me get through this. We don’t know how long we will have my mother-in-law with us and doing this through the holidays has it’s own special challenges. I’m so glad now that I have been able to work on some of my swatches, photos and posts ahead of time. And as I write our youngest son sits in my MIL’s room on the other side of our house, just being there so I can write and stay caught up. Blogging and finding moments to do my nails are so therapeutic. Funny how the little things are the highlight of your day in these situations. Moments of clarity from my MIL are far and few between but they are there hidden behind the oxygen deprivation and cloudy medicine interference. Yet, times when she has a memory, or showers us with hugs and kisses and blessings…are a blessing. Thanks everyone!

Thank you Ulta!

Thank you Ulta!

You can get this nice little gift set from Ulta when you buy two Zoya polishes. I bought Odette and Erika. This is “while supplies last”. 1oz Remove, full size Hot Lips in Glossy Balm in Flirty, mini Anchor base coat, and mini Matte top coat. It seems from what I’ve read that whether you’re required to buy reg price polishes as opposed to clearance bottles is up to the store’s discretion. I also purchased one bottle, “Wish On A Starfish”, from the new China Glaze Sea Goddess Collection of springtime textured polishes. It’s gorgeous and I’ll be posting a review here soon. However, just a heads up, they charge $10 at Ulta for them and then I find out I could have gotten it at Sally Beauty for $5.99! Say what?! Seriously, that’s a huge difference. I’m considering returning it before I use it and ask for a price match. If they won’t play ball, I’ll ask for a refund and jog over to Sally! Have you gotten any of the gorgeous CG Sea Goddess shades and what to you pay?
