Born Pretty Gel, Foils and Oil!

Well, this was a fun package I received in the mail today. Some gorgeous gel polishes, shimmers and Cat Eye, a dozen metallic foils and some tropical scented cuticle oil. Every single item is a winner. Let’s take a look!

First, a denim blue frosty Magnetic Cat Eye gel polish, BP 05. I thought it was going to be more of a midnight blue, but this works for me! Applied over black gel polish to really make it stand out. It is item #41515

BP 05 Magnetic Cat Eye Gel is a gorgeous deep denim blue, here I used a round magnet for this special effect. Cure after applying magnet and voila!

How about a lovely golden shimmer and red shimmer duo from Born Pretty’s Soak Off Gel Polish line?! Perfect together at a great price. This is item BP Soak Off Gel polish set #41492.

A 2-pack of BORN PRETTY Red Sparkle Gel and Gold Holographic Glitter Soak Off Nail Gel Polish. A beautiful duo!

I am SO loving these super thin, easy to apply nail foil, gold leaf variations, gold, silver, and two oil slick variations. 12 pots and a tiny bit goes a LONG way! I applied them over BP 05 Cat Eye gel! Item #3966

Set pf 12 Nail Art Foil in Gold, Silver, oil slick red/orange/gold/teal and oil slick gold/red/orange/fuscia Set! Easy to apply over nail polish then top coat, or over any stick layer then top coat with gel as I did here over BP Cat Eye Gel BP 05. Item # 3966

And last but not least, an amazing cuticle oil pen, item #39329 in the scent of Coconut and man it smells amazing. Not fake or plasticky, but like real coconut. It isn’t overly oily, but feels just right. It also comes in Pineapple, Peach, Lavender and Almond.

An amazing Nail Cuticle Oil 2ml Fruit or Flower scented, in a handy metallic pen. I used Coconut here and it smells amazing, not too shiny either so great for photographing nail swatches. I am loving this stuff!

Five new Born Pretty “pretties” to share!

Born Pretty StoreThe other day I received some more pretties from Born Pretty Store. They always have such cool stuff and always something new. If you’re willing to wait a few weeks for your order, it’s always worth it. Let’s see what they sent!

What a fun batch of goodies sent to me by the folks at Born Pretty! Link is body of post…Center then clockwise from top left: Black Chrome, BP stamping plate BP-X51, BP Cat Eye gel polish #02, BP stamping polish in gold, and BP double-sided jelly stamper with swipe card.

Remember, listed below after the images are links to each item. Let’s start with the gorgeous gold stamping polish by Born Pretty and sidenote: I wish I had a bigger bottle of this because it’s that good!

BP gold stamping polish is aaammmaaazzzing! Super easy to stamp and here it is stamped over black.

This cool new double-sided jelly stamper is perfect having a small end 2.3 cm, for small or pinky nails and the other end is medium 2.8 cm

A great little double-sided jelly stamper, easy to see through to place your stamp exactly where you need it, small side is great for small nails and especially your pinky! Other side is medium.

I love this little Kitty stamping plate, because you know, I’m all about cats!

BP-X51 square stamping plate is chock full of kitty cats. I stamped BP black and white stamping polish over pink.

An all new type of chrome pigment powder in black! Now I think mine didn’t quite come out as I expected. The powder is super fine, and I think it may have been that I overcured my no wipe top coat, because I tested it on a plastic swatch nail and it was like a blacked mirror. So my fault, but it’s still pretty here, I will try again!

Born Pretty Black Chrome is a black pigment with a slight metallic look in the jar. Buffed on black polish gives a shiny gunmetal appearance. Very trendy right now!

And finally, a cat eye gel polish in #02 used with a magnet is one of my top fave gel looks. This one when magnetized shifts purple to teal with a duochrome effect. Not as strong as the #01 I tried last time, but still gorgeous. Again, I think next time I will paint it exclusively without black underneath.

Born Pretty Magnetic Cat Eye gel in #02, pretty but not as effective over black as the first one I tried. Next time I will paint on, cure then paint on again, apply magnet and cure. I think the effect will be stronger with the shift from purple to teal.

Here are the items’ links in the Born Pretty Store!

Fun Holiday-worthy shades from Madam Glam Gel Polishes

Greetings all! We find ourselves between Thanksgiving and Christmas and as we finish off the leftover turkey, it’s already time to hang the greens and shop for gifts! I totally overdid it, as usual, and maxed out my pain threshold while decorating for Christmas. I spent the good part of the week in deep seering pain and although I’m on the mend, the discomfort in my shoulder has somewhat subsided and is traveling down into my knuckles. But hey, all for a good cause right? lol This getting older stuff is no fun. I still have shopping to do, and ugh, the thought of rolling out more pie dough makes me wince. At least my house looks picture perfect 😉

Regardless of the old lady pains the past week, the swatching must go on, right?! Today, I have some gorgeous gel polishes from Madam Glam. Always so many fun new things arriving at MadamGlam.com. You can also now find lipsticks there, and brand new, a nail color dipping powder system. Yay! So let’s get on with the swatches….

Tomboy is a deep forest green shimmer gel polish by Madam Glam. I have to say, one of my favorites by MG! Perfect for the holiday season! 2 coats.

I LOVE this kind of green and it’s perfect for holiday and winter manis. That extra sparkle is perfect!

Glittery plum is another gorgeous shimmery gel polish by Madam glam. A delicate sparkly plum shade, also perfect for your holiday mani.

Glittery Plum is so juicy! I love this kind of shade and it goes on super smooth.

Higher Spirit is a latte shimmer shade that has sort of a white gold effect when the magnet is applied before curing. This Madam Glam Cat Eye gel polish is stunning and elegant! 2 coats alone over base gel.

I love Cat Eye polishes, like really really love them! So versatile and this shade is what I would call an office appropriate polish.

How fun is this?! Sprinkle Jam is a one of a long line of fun and super easy to use One Step gel polishes by Madam Glam. It’s an emerald multi faceted glitter, tiny to medium glitters with a few micro bars thrown in for extra sparkle. This clear gel base topper is gorgeous alone in two coats, as seen on my pinky. Or topped over your choice of base shades. I used Madam Glam One Step in a spicy red called Smart Red!

You won’t find a quicker way of applying a cured gel polish than the One Step. No base or top coat necessary and you can layer and mix and match them with ease. Sprinkle Jam is super fun over red.

Conclusion: I think I’ve said it all, but you know when you buy polishes and accessories from Madam Glam, you are definitely getting your money’s worth! Shop now and look for specials as well! Wishing you all a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and heartfelt Holiday wishes!

Born Pretty Store swatches to share!

I have received a few items from the Born Pretty Store, and since they were arriving separately in my mailbox, I wanted to wait until they all arrived and post them all together. So I have quite a selection of items for nail art so grab a coffee and have a seat. Here we go!

I’ll start with the best…and work down 😉 Yeah, some were what I call “close” but no cigar. At least not for me. I think my favorite item from this menagerie was the Cat Eye Gel polish. It came with a special magnet that you hold over the polish before its cured, creating a mesmerizing cat eye effect. Now I want it in every color! I give this one 5 stars because the magnet was easy to use, the gel had a good strong amount of magnetics to create a stunning look. Color is BP-08 Jade Cat Eye.

Here is Born Pretty Professional UV & LED Soak Off Color Coat gel polish, Cat Eye in the color Jade. 2 coats.

And to follow-up, here is the same Cat Eye Gel BP-08 Jade with a BP gel holo flakes top coat #03 on top! Love this!

BP gel topper 03 over Jade cat eye gel, BP-08.

You know I absolutely love flakies and powder pigments. They are so transforming and really perk up a mani. First, here some holo flakies in BP 39677, a silver holo.

BP 39677 holo flakies are easy to work with. Can be used over regular polish, mixed into a sheer color, topped with water base top coat or used with gel polish.

And a great silver flakies powder, not to be confused with the super fine metallic chrome pigments, but a bit chunkier. These can be used loose, or burnished in (rubbed into a waterbase top coat or gel no wipe top coat) You’re only limited by your imagination. Go chunky and sparse or rub in a lot! BP silver flakies powder BP 39745.

Her is another pretty gel top coat with holo flakies in color #BP 01 over a rusty red!

This one gets an A for what it could have been. The gradient from red to purple/pink is gorgeous! Nail Foil papers are not for the faint of heart. It takes patience, and I have to admit I’ve worked with better. This one gave me a run for my money and would NOT rub in smoothly, but rather created more of a burnished metallic look. Still pretty, but I have hope for a more fluid look. BP nail foil redpink 38895.

BP nail foil redpink 38895 over a burgundy nail polish.

I had such high hopes for this nail art stamping plate. (BP stamping plate L015) You know of love cats, and this one definitely needs more practice, or maybe the etched images are not etched deep enough. I tried several different polishes that I KNOW have worked great in the past with other plates. Nope, none of them worked right and only gave me partial stamped images. I think this is one of those plates that really does need stamping polish to perform. And those cats are so dang cute! I seriously wanted to sling this plate across the room! LOL But I mushed on. Finally I decided to try a black gel polish and that worked but looked somewhat blurry. But hey. I’m not here to sing the praises of every product I test. This one, cute but I’d give it’s performance 2 stars out of 5. That makes me sad. I’m not finished with it yet. I’ll keep trying because hey, it’s full of cats! LOL

Madam Glam Chrome Mirror Pigments for shine that is Out-of-This-World

Madam Glam Chrome Mirror Pigment powders aptly named after planets and other heavenly bodies sparkle and shine! This cast of characters come in seven shades and I have four to share with you today. And as a bonus, I will also share with you a shiny red gel polish that will make heads turn! Let’s take a look.

I am loving Pluto Chrome Mirror Pigment Powder by Madam Glam, swatched here over white for a pearly finish that glows pale green in different angles along with pale pink. But over black as seen on the accent nail, boom! An emerald foil finish!

Pluto is one of 7 of the newest Chrome Mirror pigment powders by Madam Glam. Each pot is a generous 5 grams and comes with instructions and a nice pink metallic applicator. Pluto is described as, "...green with blue undertone" and suggested to go over a black gel polish cured with a no wipe top coat, but you may also use it over regular polish with a water based top coat over and under the powder!

Venus Chrome Mirror Pigment Powder by Madam Glad over black. The MG store describes it as a light blue but on me at least seemed a darker blue over black gel polish. I think if it was swatched over a white or pale blue it would be a lot lighter but it's gorgeous here!

Here is the bonus swatch of Quite Olive gel polish! She’s a fabulous red gel polish with tons of shimmer. I wore it all Christmas weekend!

Quite Olive by Madam Glam is described as, "Sparkly red with a hint of orange. This color was inspired by the gorgeous Kalamata olives. Nothing makes red wine more delicious than some good olives and a gorgeous manicure." Here she is in 3 coats. It's a perfect pimento shimmer for a holiday mani!

Deep jewel tone gel polishes from Sparkle & Co!

Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE all the bright and airy shades of Spring and Summer, but after those long seasons (especially here in Texas) I find a special excitement over being able to wear some deep, vampy nail shades! Today’s post featuring more gel polishes by Sparkle & Co includes four jewel toned cremes you’re sure to want to include in your collection. All these bottles are full size, 15 ml bottles and swatches include Base Coat and No Wipe Top Coat gel polishes by Sparkle & Co. Let’s take a look!

Today I'm reviewing four more sassy deep jewel tone gel polishes from Sparkle & Co, from OceansofBeauty.com! From left, #017 (Dark Purple), #032 (Brown/Maroon), #19 (Raspberry), and #020 (Deepest Blue).

Here is 3 coats of #019/Raspberry! Now this is 3 coats, and tested on my natural nail doesn't provide a deeper shade for me. But I am loving it this way! You May notice on the web store that the shade on the acrylic swatch stick is a good deal deeper, and all I can say is on a plastic nail stick must afford a deeper shade and I don't know how many coats was applied there.

#020/Deepest Blue from the gel polish line by Sparkle & Co of OceansofBeauty.com. I love this Royal blue, and although the formula leans semi jelly-like, I still only needed two coats cured. This deep blue is perfect! 2 Coats!
