Diving into Sparkling Seas By Pure Ice

Diving into Sparkling Seas By Pure Ice

Well, if you’ve read any of my bio, you’ll know I’m a beach freak, I love collecting seashells and anything to do with the water. Pure ice just introduced it’s new collection called Sparkling Seas. Really only three new polishes were added to their core line. I’ve featured two of them.

Shades I used, from left: Sparkling Seas, Splash, Home Run, Sea Glass, and on back top is Don't You Wish.

I’ve been thinking about the beautiful waters of Florida’s Emerald Coast ever since we left our vacation home. The blues, the greens, the white sand…Ahh. So why not a sea inspired mani?

On the bottom cuticle side I started with a rough edge layer of Home Run. A pale mint green from thenPure Ice core line. Then I added a layer of Sea Glass over the green. Then to the top half and free edge of my nail I painted a coat of the gorgeous glass fleck pale blue called Splash. Then came a layer of Sparkling Seas. This and Sea Glass are both tinted jellies with iridescent glitters and flakies. Really pretty stuff.

The one I left out that I didn’t use in this mani is called Mer-Magical, a pink based jelly glitter topper. And note that these will not stand on their own, they really need a colored base. Gorgeous nontheless. I added some ocean inspired nail stickers and a topcoat of color shifting Don’t You Wish, and voila!

You can find these now at Walmart, for $1.97ea US. Visit Pure Ice online at http://www.pureicecosmetics.com.

Brilliant Pink Ice lacquers from Rue21

Brilliant Pink Ice lacquers from Rue21

I’ve been haunting the cosmetic racks at Rue21 shops since last fall. I’d read somewhere on Instagram that these little boutique franchises carried their own line of polishes. So while Christmas shopping I decided to drop in a few of these stores at the mall.

Pink Ice polishes come in a wide variety of colors.

Pink Ice polishes come in a wide variety of colors.

I’ve been finding some nice polishes, always discounted, at Claire’s and Icing, but it never occurred to me to check places like Rue21, Forever21, American Outfitters and even dare I say, Victoria’s Secret for polish! But there they were!

I especially like Pink Ice’s square bottles that contain these creative colors. The polish is pretty decent for an average cost of 2/$5 US! They carry textured glitters, glitter bombs, shimmers, cremes, flakie crellies, jellies, metallics and milky indieesque polishes. My only beef is that most of what I’ve found are not named, only labeled with style numbers. I like names and it can’t be that hard! But here are a few from my collection.

Pink Ice, please name your polishes. They're so awesome! :-)

The lineup of the bottle back labels correspond with what is on my nails here. On the left, pinkie finger is a pretty crelly with some white matte flakies and shreds, pink foil flakies and glitter and silver glitter. Three coats to opacity. Very femme! Then on my ring finger is one of my faves, a satin finish orchid that is to die for! You can also gloss it up and I did on the free edge. It’s the only one of these four with a name, Far Out Purple. Two coats and gorgeous! Then we have on the middle finger is a brilliant jelly filled with lots of royal blue matte flakies. I used three coats here but I think it might be interesting to do two coats over a like color. Then on my pointer finger a very close in style to the previous, only it’s a brilliant pinky purple. Note, all these dry quickly and easy to apply, nice formulas!

I have others from Pink Ice to review. I may even get to them 😉 Not all Rue21 stores carry the same colors. You won’t find much help online either. Just check out yours and let me know what you find!

You’ll feel like a princess wearing Minnie Mouse Princess Glitter Topper

You'll feel like a princess wearing Minnie Mouse Princess Glitter Topper

When I took this bottle out of the package yesterday, I quite seriously said, “Oh my goodness!” In fact I probably said it in a high pitch Minnie Mouse voice. LOL Minnie Mouse Princess Glitter Topper from Jamie’s Glitter Lambs, is pretty, and pink, and feminine and sparkly. Just what a Princess deserves!

Minnie Mouse Princess shines like a Royal!

Minnie Mouse Princess is in a clear base filled with bubblegum pink Minnie Mouse heads, pink dots, pink shreds, pink hex mix and rainbow holographic glitter. I put one layer over different colors of base coat, even went solo on my ring finger with two coats and it covered very well. Minnie would be proud!

I think my favorite one was on this black shimmer undie! It really makes the pink pop, especially the pink mouse head.

Now that's a lot of pink! Great on dark or bright pink undies, white or black.

Tres Chic goes on like a dream!

Tres Chic goes on like a dream!

I’d all but forgotten when I’d entered the Gloss48 + Accio Lacquer contest! Then I received an email from the founder of Gloss48, Laura Bronner, that I would receive a trio of Gloss48 Exclusive Dollish Polishes. Tres Chic, Wild Orchid and Baby’s Breath! I’ve been wanting some for some time now, and here they are!

Ooh lala...très chic c'est magnifique!

Great formula, brushes and I LOVE these square bottles. This aquamarine crelly has black hexes, large and medium Fuscia rounds, teal hexes and squares, teal glitters small black matte glitters. I used two coats here.

Next we have this breathtaking Wild Orchid!

So pretty, it's almost regal!

This formula was astounding! I mean seriously, I had no doubts and I was so excited to see the holographic shimmer. It’s scattered but just on the cusp of being linear. But the orchid shade would be overtaken I think with too much holo, so I’m glad they left this one as is. One cost will do, but why not two?

Wild Orchid, a force of nature.

I’m still pinching myself. I own these, yes!!! I really wanted to show you outdoor shots, but it was cloudy and threatened to rain all day. Oh well, I can add it in later.

Last is the delicate Baby’s Breath. It’s a blushing baby pink with iridescent shimmering flakies and glitters. You will need three coats of this beautiful baby. But the payoff is worth it.

Baby's Breath is so sweet!

Ice is nice!

Ice is nice!

I just realized the two brands I used for this look were similar in name. Well sorta. Pure Ice and Icing 😉

The accent finger was a delightful discovery. I was “shopping” through my stash for a color to compliment the teal sparkle of my new textured polish. Then I remembered, I had two Pure Ice bottles that would be perfect. I get my Pure Ice at Walmart for $1.97. Underneath I used two coats of Watch Me Go, which was surprisingly near opaque. This gorgeous microfine glitter is full of blue and green sparklers in a clear base. Then it was topped by two coats of Heartbreaker. I LOVE this shimmery topper. It’s a light teal/blue? jelly with blue and green shimmer. Very tough to describe. Talk about a transformer! I’ve used it over countless manis to creat duo finishes. It makes a super smooth and glossy coat over most micro glitters. You should see what it does to chrome sand metallics.

One of my newest discoveries of late was this stunning black textured lacquer by Icing. Their Quick Sand textured line is really great quality. This color, Lost in Paradise, is a fine black sandy texture (feels a lot like Zoya’s Pixie Dust) that is nearly opaque in two coats. It reminds me of Zoya’s Dahlia, except it’s twinkle is brought about by a good dose of of shiny teal micro glitters. It’s kind of thick on the brush but easy to work with. And it dries really fast. I wish you could see it sparkle in real life. I just couldn’t capture how gorgeous it is. Seeing it wet, I can also picture it with a high gloss topper as well. It reminds me of that “little black dress”. In fact, if I had been in charge of naming this stunner, that would be it’s name. It was a BOGO, so basically cost just under $4. I never imagined loving black this much. But it works for me!
