Virago’s Hollywood Glamour collection and swatches!

When I chatted with indie polish brand Virago Varnish‘s owner/creator, Adrienne about her upcoming collection, I kept getting more and more excited. One, because her formulas and colors are awesome. Two, I knew ahead of time the glitters in this set would be beyond belief. I was right! I will add to that and echo her excitement that one of the glitters in the set came with an honor every indie polish maker dreams about. She says, “Virago is excited to announce this stunning lacquer Radiance. It will be gifted at GBK’s Celebrity Gift Lounge honoring the 2015 MTV Movie Awards Nominees and Presenters!” How cool is that?! I will start there after I show you the bottles! 🙂

4 fab glitter polishes. On top is Radiance and from L-R: Stellar, Allure and Glamorous.

Radiance!

I shot all the glitter polishes in full sun (and thank you Sun for appearing yesterday when I shot these!). Just for fun I did a gradient over a pale blue on the accent nail. This baby sure shines!

I LOVE Radiance! It glows on your nail is sun or regular lighting. Radiance is described as, "Radiance couldn't be a better fitting name for this lacquer. The holographic effect is so compelling that you'll be staring at your nails all day. The holographic glitter in this lacquer is nostalgic of a 1960’s jacquard dinner dress."

Allure!

Who can resist a polish like Allure? Seriously smooth, like Glamorous and although no topcoat is require over these two coats, you could use that if you're wanting to do stamping over this GORGEOUS holo glitter. I didn't want to take it off!

Allure is one of those holos you don't want to take off. Did I mention it's smooth as a baby's "you-know-what"? Allure is described as, "Inspired by 1940s Old Hollywood, Allure does not disappoint. It’s like having a vintage sliver sequenced chiffon dress in a bottle. The holo in this lacquer is so intense that all eyes will be on your nails." Opacity: Fully opaque in approximately 2-3 coats.

Glamorous!

Ok, as I painted this one on I was seriously and immediately in love. Then it dried smooth and I was like, "whaaaa?" All that glitzyness and smooth as silk. I did a gradient over Majestic.

Glamorous, all I can say is "WOW"! Also super smooth! Glamorous is described as, "Like a vintage 1950s black tulle Chantilly lace dress. Glamorous is a classy holographic micro-glitter lacquer in a black jelly base. The holo effect in this lacquer is mesmerizing." Finish: Semi Matte, Micro-Glitter Opacity: Fully opaque in approximately 2-3 coats.

Stellar!

Stellar is right! And look at her over black, wow! It's like holographic blue sugar!

Stellar is such a gorgeous glitter and I love those little hints of purple. Stellar is described as, "Inspired by a 1950s flocked Chiffon dress, Stellar is a dazzling lacquer with various holographic micro-glitters in a clear base. As with all glitter lacquers from the Hollywood Glamour collection, Stellar also possesses intense holographic display." Opacity: Fully opaque in approximately 2-3 coats.

I will start with one that is very limited so you’re going to want to get your hands on this stunner Exclusive (maybe two?) before they are gone.

Well, Exclusive is named this for a reason. It's a LTD polish, so you may want to order a couple!

Two more stunners from Madam Glam!

I SO love this indie company! I seriously love every polish I have tried from Madam Glam and with each bottle I am more and more impressed. Today we have two stunning examples of how to do polish right. Text Me Later and Wonderland.

Text Me Later on the left and Wonderland on the right. Two amazingly perfect formulas!

Text Me Later on the left and Wonderland on the right. Two amazingly perfect formulas!

First up is Text Me Later. Yes, I went a little crazy with the accent nail. Don’t hate me!

So, Text Me Later is the essential eggplant creme! I blinged it out with a fun glitter placement of OPI's "I Snow You Love Me".

Text Me Later just now in stock. You simply MUST have it! Now onto Wonderland!

Wonderland is just that! It's Wonderful to find a perfect jelly. Since it's been awhile since I have done a jelly sandwich, I sandwiched one thin easy coat of "Dancing & Prancing" by China Glaze. I can't wait to rock this brilliant pink this summer when I have a tan!

I can safely say every jelly from Madam Glam is perfection. I am just amazed how smooth and buttery this goes on, dries fast to a slightly shiny but more like rubbery finish and very forgiving of nail surface flaws!

What a fitting name! I don't know how Madam Glam does it but these jellies are perfection! It is described as, "A cherry pink..."A dreamy pink to keep you thinking positive thoughts and help you go the extra mile. This is a Jelly. Three thin coats for full opacity. Very smooth to apply." I can tell you I got full opacity in 2 coats and it's perfect for jelly sandwiches!

Square Hue Passport Collection, a visit to Barcelona!

Barcelona 7.14

Barcelona 7.14

Ahh, sunny Spain! Many of us might not be able to get there anytime soon, but at least we can bring a little Barcelona to our nails. With Square Hue’s gorgeous monthly subscription box service, world travel (well at least nail color) was never so easy or affordable. Grab a venti espresso, lots of info and photos coming right up! By the way, I must apologize for being so late getting this post out. My first bottle of Placa Catalunya literally fell to the floor before I got to finish swatching that gorgeous pink shimmer! It was a sad day in the Duncan house. But I finally got a replacement thanks to the sweet folks at Square Hue!

Barcelona, Spain. Coordinates: 41°23′N 2°11′E

The capital city of this Mediterranean country is the second largest in Spain. It is full of sunshine, history and best of all, festive color! What a great choice for the July box! First we start with a sunny orange full of shimmer, Rambla de Rava.

Rambla de Rava - Hot, Bold and juicy orange Micro Shimmer

Rambla de Rava is such a brilliant orange, not neon but eye catching just the same. This 1-2 coater, depending on your technique, glides on like butter. I didn’t experience any pooling, clumping or drag. It’s formula is perfection.

Indoor shot, just as brilliant!

Here are a couple bottle shots for your viewing pleasure. A note about SH’s bottles, whether you’re looking at these jems from the top down or from the side, it’s easy to see the beauty within and are just plain pretty to display!

Next up is a warm and rich shade. Much like a deep fruit-forward Spanish wine, is Passeig de Gracia. It represents to me a color rich in history, deep and complex. Yet it contains a sparkle in sunlight or shade.
Passeig de Gracia
I love the fact that even though you can wear this in fall and winter, the shimmer within makes it a perfect shade for summer. The formula, as is the case with the whole collection, is amazing. One, 1, UNO coat!

Feast your eyes on the bottle. Square hit the ball out of the park on this collection!

And last of the collection and certainly not least, I give you sexy Placa Catalunya – Rich, classy and elegant pink Micro Shimmer. Again, an amazing one coater, perfect application, fast drying and long lasting.

This beauty glows in the sunshine. Just like Barcelona!

This is summer in a bottle folks. Look at all that shimmer and great pigmentation!

Love this gorgeous shimmery pink! I thought it would be fun to accent this mani with a water marble using all three shades from the Barcelona Collection.

I wanted to try something different with this last selection. I knew I wanted to use all three shades as an accent nail. I’m just getting back I to water marbling, so be gentle with me! I love the contrasts!

Here are a couple of bottle shots so you can see why I love to just stare at these on my shelf.

What a luscious pink!

What a luscious pink!

So that’s it for this month my lovelies! I can’t wait to see the 8.14 Passport collection called Hollywood. It will be shipping August 1st so jump onboard and I’ll see you in Hollywood. 🙂

The shades offered monthly by SH are particular to each month of it’s release. There are no permanent collections so if you miss out, you’ll have to find someone to buy your lemming from or check eBay or Amazon. Just thought I’d throw that in free of charge 😉

I LOVE the square bottles, so easy to store or display. The whole packaging is very convenient from the clearview design on every side, to the name and month of the collection’s arrival.
