“Going Native in PCH” Cult Cosmetics Lacquer NOTD

“Going Native in PCH” ☺️ Today’s tribal look was a fun one. I sat down with three polishes from Cult Cosmetics not having any idea what look I was going for. I went for a nouveau tribal look!

I love this holographic topcoat Coachella! It's glorious over PCH.

Color Club Art Club Striping lacquer in White, El Porto, PCH and Coachella!

Color Club Art Club Striping lacquer in White, El Porto, PCH and Coachella!

I began by using this perfect formula, cool toned green shimmer in PCH, white El Porto, and holo topcoat Coachella by Cult Cosmetics. Coachella is a lightweight holo topcoat that is perfect for adding linear holo sparkle to any color. El Porto is a highly glossy pigmented white. A perfect undie or gorgeous on it’s own!

Cult lacquers are premium, 5-FREE, Vegan, cruelty-free single coat polishes and makeup products. None of their polishes are animal tested and they are made in California, USA.

A Watercolor Frenchie using polishes from Cult Cosmetics!

I love watercolors. I love French manis. I figured, why not try a mashup?! Since I just received some polishes from Cult Cosmetics, I put two and two together and came up with a pretty little twist on a French manicure with some splashes of color. Here are the polishes used for this manicure.

Polishes used for this watercolor Frenchie, from top then left to right: PCH, Catalina, Hollywood Forever, Breakwater and El Porto.

The formulas on all of these are amazing on their own, and super fun to work with for nail art. The white base I used here, El Porto, glides on opaque in one coat. I’d pretty much have to say if you’re collecting Cult Cosmetics polishes, you MUST own this one!

El Porto for a great beginning!

El Porto for a great beginning!

First, add clear top coat over white. Then for the watercolor effect, I used one color after another, by placing a drop or two on a glass dish. Using a small brush, dab small amounts of chosen color where you want it, then quickly dab brush while it still has a bit of polish on it into a bit of polish remover. Dab excess drips onto paper towel, then dab paint splotches. First color I used was PCH

I love this shimmery deep teal! It's actually more like a metallic.

Then continue with your other colors. Here are the rest of the shades used plus a little topcoat of the iridescent flakies topcoat, Hollywood Forever!

Hollywood Forever. So many ideas for this one! I can't wait to use it over a deep dark shade!

What an easy way to do a French mani without being tedious!

One last note (and be prepared to see more fun nail art using amazing polishes from Cult. Every one of these shades I used today are opaque in one coat, but you can use two if that’s how you roll! Each one is glossy but using a good clear topcoat for extra longevity in your busy life is helpful! 🙂 No staining in any of their polishes that I’ve experienced. See the info below and take a gander at all their boxed sets and individual polishes available.

Summery surprise in my BlackBox!

Summery surprise in my BlackBox!

Ocean blue hues inspired the beautiful PCH (or Pacific Coast Highway in case you’re not familiar with the gorgeous coast of Cali). I grew up in California and although I don’t miss the busier, more congested locations of the sunny State, I do have fond memories of the temperate climate, stunning coast and ohhh, the shopping!

Also included in my box was the coral creme polish called Avalon, which Cult Cosmetics says is “…inspired by the styles of the Hollywood DJ scene…”, but when I saw the name on the bottle I immediately thought of the quaint city of Avalon on Catalina Island. I’ve only been there once but it’s Mediterranean style and laid back atmosphere is hard to forget. This delicate but not understated coral one-coater is stunning. Swatches coming soon.

The pleasant surprise was this beautiful palette by BH Cosmetics. It contains 16 nicely pigmented eyeshadows (both matte and shimmer) and 4 generous face powders, including a highlighter, bronzer, peachy blush and a neutral tan. A perfect combo for that sun-kissed look. The eyeshadows range from a pearl cream highlighter, to deep blues, teals, greens and browns. The whole beachey package is heavy and well made, with magnets for securing each flap, and a nice mirror. The only issue I have with the palette is the magnets are very strong and it’s difficult to keep the whole trio open without it closing itself back up again, all on it’s own. I ended up placing an object between the creases to keep it open. But I think maybe in time these may loosen up.

The BlackBox by Cult Cosmetics of California is a monthly subscription service. I’m not going to quote the monthly fee because it may change by the time someone reads this later on.

You can find more info and pricing at http://www.cultcosmetics.com. Cult Cosmetics polishes are Vegan, 5-FREE, never Animal-Tested and are proprietary One&Done™ single-coat formulas.

Here is a quote from Cult: “One & Done™ promise: CULT makes a polish that goes on full and thick the very first time. Too many nail polishes require 2-3 watery applications before you get full coverage. Not CULT – it goes on once…and you’re done!”
I can verify their polishes are amazing! The formulas are a dream to work with.
