Madam Glam Chrome Mirror Pigments for shine that is Out-of-This-World

Madam Glam Chrome Mirror Pigment powders aptly named after planets and other heavenly bodies sparkle and shine! This cast of characters come in seven shades and I have four to share with you today. And as a bonus, I will also share with you a shiny red gel polish that will make heads turn! Let’s take a look.

I am loving Pluto Chrome Mirror Pigment Powder by Madam Glam, swatched here over white for a pearly finish that glows pale green in different angles along with pale pink. But over black as seen on the accent nail, boom! An emerald foil finish!

Pluto is one of 7 of the newest Chrome Mirror pigment powders by Madam Glam. Each pot is a generous 5 grams and comes with instructions and a nice pink metallic applicator. Pluto is described as, "...green with blue undertone" and suggested to go over a black gel polish cured with a no wipe top coat, but you may also use it over regular polish with a water based top coat over and under the powder!

Venus Chrome Mirror Pigment Powder by Madam Glad over black. The MG store describes it as a light blue but on me at least seemed a darker blue over black gel polish. I think if it was swatched over a white or pale blue it would be a lot lighter but it's gorgeous here!

Here is the bonus swatch of Quite Olive gel polish! She’s a fabulous red gel polish with tons of shimmer. I wore it all Christmas weekend!

Quite Olive by Madam Glam is described as, "Sparkly red with a hint of orange. This color was inspired by the gorgeous Kalamata olives. Nothing makes red wine more delicious than some good olives and a gorgeous manicure." Here she is in 3 coats. It's a perfect pimento shimmer for a holiday mani!

CND Creative Play™ blacks and blues

If you read my recent post review on the new CND Creative Play™ line of 80 shades and formulas, you know by now the diverse selection available. In the next week or two I’ll be sharing more colors from this innovative collection. Please read first post from the other day! For now, enjoy with me a gorgeous black with holo, and a couple gorgeous blues!

CND Creative Play™ Turquoise Tidings is a 3-coat on it's own, or 1 coat over another color glitter fill jelly. By itself, it's a mermaidy combo of holo and iridescent glitters, and it's gorgeous over a dark shade, like you see here over Navy Brat CND Creative Play.

Navy Brat, a CND Creative Play™ creme in deep Navy blue. Here it is in two coats and great formula. Amazingly smooth!

My 2nd installment of CND Creative Play™ polishes are black and blues! From left, Navy Brat, a 2-coat navy blue creme; Nocturne It Up, a black jelly holographic glitter 2-coat glossy polish. And Turquoise It Up, an ocean blue jelly filled with iridescent holographic glitter top coat, or you can accomplish full coverage in three coats on its own.

CONCLUSION: Love all of these. The creme is butter smooth and the jelly/glitter combos are pretty darn opaque and smooth in only 2-3 coats.

Some 2015 seasonal faves from Indigo Bananas

Andrea from Indigo Bananas sent me a beautiful selection of polishes from each season so I could show you the diversity of her products. Well, I ended up with seven, even though there are only four seasons. 😉 You know it’s like a potato chip, once you have one, it’s hard to stop! I was going to break up the post into two, but oh well, I couldn’t wait to show you. And she is having a grand sale right now. She’s going to be moving and rather busy (I know how she feels). Details below. In the meantime, let’s take a peak at what I have for you today. This should hold you over until her new collection comes to fruition!

From left, Land of Green Ginger from Spring 2015. And 3 creme neons from the summer 2015 Neon The 10th Element collection, the pink is named after the collection, Neon The 10th Element, then Carbon Dallas and Phlogiston Paradise!

Let’s start with The Land of Green Ginger. This really pops for a pastel! See how that slides off the tongue? Popping pastel!

The Land of Green Ginger from the Spring 2015 collection is a cool minty teal green, buttery smooth teaming with glass flecks. Two coats here. It is described as: "Land of Green Ginger is a light, mint green creme packed with gold & gold to green colorshifting glass fleck (large size) shimmers, and scattered holo. Very flattering green! This polish is quite a bit lighter than Immortal Game, and a mint color, so quite a bit warmer than the medium teal of Immortal Game, in addition to having a different mix of shimmer."

Nest up will be three gorgeous neons from the Neon The 10th Element collection. Starting with a brilliant pink named after the whole collection!

Neon The 10th Element is a brilliant, eye-popping Neon pink, and named after its collection from Indigo Bananas Summer 2015 release. It is described as: "Neon is the 10th Element - and is the brightest color in this collection. Eye searing hot pink. This color is bright hot pink with no yellow cast."

Next up is Carbon Dallas. I love bright watery blues like this!

2 coats of this brilliant blue neon creme from Indigo Bananas Neon the 10th Element collection, Carbon Dallas. Of the three neons I'm presenting today, I left this one in it's natural state, they all dry satiny/semi matte, so you can see the finish. It is described as: "a blue/light blue neon creme that is semi-matte/satiny finish with two coats recommended."

Purple AND Neon? Yes please! Here is Phlogiston Paradise from the Neon The 10th Element collection.

Phlogiston Paradise from the Neon The 10th Element collection is a super opaque brilliant purple creme, 2 coats, as with all these. Just for a fun I included an accent nail using Hole In The Sky by Indigo Bananas. Somewhat because it looks cool. Plus if you ever saw (and appreciate the quirkiness of the film, The 5th Element) you can relate the "hole in the sky" reference. Stumped? Message me, LOL Anyway, it is described as: "Phlogiston Paradise is a purple creme; it leans more blue than other purple colors and is more violet-toned than royal purple-toned.  Swatch as pictured is two coats with top coat. As a neon, this polish will try semi-matte and not totally shiny. A top coat is recommended but not needed; the polish will become shiny with a day of wear if shine is a concern."

For the last three seasons, we have some Summer, Winter and Fall faves. Starting with Hole in The Sky from Summer Rains collex!

This one is GLORIOUS! Hole in the Sky from the Indigo Bananas Summer Rains collection in 2-3 coats. Great formula with tons of depth. It is described as: "The base of this color is a purple, but it is blue-leaning. The red to green shimmer and flakies in it give it a more purple cast. It photographs very blue in some lights (fluorescent) and with some cameras.  At an angle the flakes & shimmer shift green, and the polish will appear bluer. The linear holo effect is subtle (in order to not wash out the shimmer), but should be present in the sun and direct light.  Please apply three thin coats for ideal holographic effect (holo pigment is more linear when applied in a very thin layer)."

Everyone needs a teal holo, especially a linear! Here is Shrieking Teals from Fall.

Indigo Bananas Shrieking Teals from the Fall 2015 collection in two amazing coats. It is described as: "Shrieking Teals is a vibrant green leaning teal linear holographic. The holographic rainbow is slightly more subdued in this polish because of the vibrant color. Top coat affects the color of this polish a little bit - the polish is a deeper teal shade, it is shinier, and the holographic effect is a bit more pronounced but less linear. Multiple thinner coats tend to give stronger and deeper holographic effects. **Important notes**: The pigments in this polish have the possibility of staining. However, the staining is temporary and on the nail surface and can be removed or fades on it's own. To remove such stains, the fastest method is with cuticle remover on top of the nail and light scrubbing. A base coat prevents staining. Top coat is recommended for this polish for increased shine, and a slightly stronger holo."

And the last one is from Winter 2015, Night Gathers. Beautiful!

Gorgeous and sultry Night Gathers from Indigo Bananas Winter '15 collection. Two coats here! It is described as: "Night Gathers is an inky blue leaning black linear holographic polish. Two coats for full coverage, top coat recommended and does not affect the holo flame. Multiple thinner coats tend to give stronger and deeper holographic effects compared to a single thicker coat."

Conclusion: Loved all of these. The cool thing about neons, are they are bright and cheery. The coolest thing about these are you need no undies, no tighty whities! LOL They pop on their own. I highly recommend all these. No go shopping!

Here is the info on the Anniversary/ (3 years old on 2/1!) Clearance/Moving sale (also posted on Indigo Bananas Facebook page)!
“Indigo Bananas will be closed from Feb 9 – end of the month (we may open sooner but this is the latest it’ll be closed to). We’re relocating to a new state, so it’s time to have an Anniversary & Clearance/Moving Sale! (Indigo Bananas turns 3 on Feb 1st!)
No discount code needed, nearly all items in the shop are 10-40% off starting now (ends Feb 7 end of day). Most polishes are 30-40% off, however, and it stacks with gift certs & shipping promos. (The IB shop will be closed Feb 8-end of month at the latest).
Items in the discontinued section will not be restocked until further notice. Restocks, and a new release, in early March include: Winter 2015 Game of Thrones inspired collection, Fall Holos, and then Spring ’15 pastels, and neons will be restocked first week in March (with new releases). Older colors will be restocked at a later date. Indigo Bananas is part of the Creme a la Mode box and the next one is set for early March, so that color is the next one out for us!
Shipping will be going out asap, same day on weekdays, and shipments CANNOT be combined once you get a tracking number, since I’m on a time crunch – sorry! 🙂
****SHIPPING RATE CHANGES****
Shipping rates went up Jan 17, and I’ve adjusted them in the shop to match. Some rates are cheaper, some are more; mostly international is up. Shipping costs now cover a large weight range (8oz-32oz are the same for example!), so that’s why at some order weights it may seem less and sometimes more. Generally international is WAY up, US priority is WAY up, US first class is up for small amounts, and down for around 12-16oz.
IB has new shipping promos as a result:
* US free shipping over $50 (down from $60) (it’s actually way cheaper for me to ship first class)
* Canada – $5 flat rate above $100
* Mexico – $5 flat rate above $125
* Rest of World – $10 flat rate above $125

Indie polish maker Mosi Mei continues to impress

I’m back with three more winners for great fall shades from Mosi Mei. When you think of indie polish, you get pretty excited about how these makers think outside the box. They almost set the standard in creativity regarding formulas, finishes and shades. Then there are those who make you wonder, how can this indie be an indie? Are we setting stereotypes, setting indie makers apart from their commercial big name counterparts? Well, little companies like Mosi Mei can really give big name commercial cosmetics a run for their money. With every finish and formula I’ve tested to date, Mosi Mei has continued to astonish me. Let’s take a look at today’s picks!

Here are some dark and mysterious shades from Mosi Mei. These are so luxurious! From bottom left, then clockwise: Loyal, Proud and Dangerous.

Let’s start with Loyal. There are black polishes, then there are silky black polishes! Is it a blackened blue with shimmer? I don’t know. It’s gorgeous and I’m totally in love with this!

Loyal, an opaque, Ultra shine black metallic. 1-2 coats, and the formula is absolutely perfect. It's got that microshimmer that leans deep blue in the creamy black. Stunning!

Next is a Dangerous. She’s bloody gorgeous!

Manis and lacquers

First review for indie polish Mosi Mei!

I was recently contacted by Candace, founder and ceo of the indie polish maker, Mosi Mei in regards to reviewing their products. I am so thrilled she did! I was immediately delighted to see the square-shaped bottles, high-end packaging and attention to detail. The company has a lot to offer and that’s including nail treatments such as base coat, top coats and matte which I tested along with the first four shades. I have many more coming so stay tuned. For today I’ll be sharing some fall appropriate shades. I’m going to preface the first four shades with a rundown of the basic nail treatments. Let’s take a look!

Mosi Mei offers four nail treatments. From left: Base Coat, Shine topcoat, Glass topcoat and Matte topcoat.

Mosi Mei says, “Mosi Mei is whoever you are, wherever you are, never defined by one style and always inspired by color, we think everyone is a Mosi Mei!” And MM lacquers come in a wide range of formulas and finishes including cremes, glitters, satins, metallics and effects. They “…make what we love, with love…because passion and creation are what we live for, no exceptions.” MM says they exist “to share our love for color and everything it does for the spirit.” I can’t agree more. Imagine a black and white world with no texture and color. Indeed, that my dears, is why we paint!

Some cool facts Candace told me about Mosi Mei! “Although we are fairly new we have been featured on Hautelook, and in Wantable boxes for a few different months, and have some press coming out in the coming months as well. We will be in quite a few subscription boxes next year and are excited about some retail locations we will soon announce.” I see big things for this amazing company. Indies rock!

Conclusion: I am thoroughly pleased so far with not only the nail treatments, but the range of shades, finishes, packaging and high quality formulas. The cremes are glossy as heck, and the formulas are excellent in every way. Easy to apply and fast to medium drying, 1-2 coats. What more can you as for?!

Some pumpkiny glitter toppers from Glitter Lambs Fall ’15 Collection

Down to the wire with Jamie’s Fall ’15 collection. Today a few pumpkin themed glitter toppers. I’ve swatched Spiced Pumpkin Cider, Jack O Lantern and Pumpkin Sugared Donuts. Ahh, does it make you hungry?! Let’s take a look.

First up is Spiced Pumpkin Cider. I keep meaning to ask Jamie, does she come up with the names after thinking about the food, or create the glitter then name it after a food it reminds her of? LOL either way, they are always perfectly paired.

Spiced Pumpkin Cider over an orangey gold screams Fall! It's described as: "a clear base filled with small orange holographic hex."

Next up is Jack O Lantern. It’s Bootiful! 😉

I LOVE Jack O Lantern! Here it is with a couple of nail water decals from Born Pretty Store: the purple holo/shimmer is Rhythm and Booze by indie maker Indigo Bananas, and the glass fleck orange is Hot Lava by Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure. It is described as: "a clear base filled with black shreds and light peachy orange hex."

And Pumpkin Sugared Donuts…makes me want to make a donut run to the bakery!

Two more new Ultra Holos from ILNP!

Today I’m sharing with you the last two of the 10 brand spankin’ new Ultra Holo polishes from ILNP. Did I have a favorite? I’ll never tell. Actually, I loved them all! They are all available to order now along with 11 new summer polishes (which I’ll be sharing in the coming weeks)! Be patient with me, I’m in the middle of packing to move as well as sprucing up the house we are selling. I’m telling you, This will be our last move, ever! It’s hard work. Well, I got off track. Here are the swatches, Walking Home and Missed Calls.

I love this deep purple sparkler, Walking Home!

Walking home is described as, "Walking Home is a deliciously juicy grape holographic nail polish that is sure to drop jaws! Step outside with this beautiful Ultra Holo on your fingertips and you'll gush at the blindingly incredible sparkle radiating from your nails. Walking Home is part of ILNP's new "Ultra Holo" class of super intense holographic nail polishes; specifically formulated for maximum, in-your-face holographic sparkle! Fully opaque in 2 to 3 coats!" It only took 2 coats for me!

The only time missed calls is pretty, in when it’s a polish! Here is Missed Calls!

Deep and mysterious and full of sparkle! Missed Calls is described as, "Missed Calls is definitely here to make a statement! Inside of this black nail polish is so much holographic sparkle that it practically explodes off the nail. Don't miss this one! Missed Calls is part of ILNP's new "Ultra Holo" class of super intense holographic nail polishes; specifically formulated for maximum, in-your-face holographic sparkle! Fully opaque in 2 to 3 coats!" Again, this only took 2 coats for me!

All 10 of the new Ultra Holos are available to order now at ILNP.com and sell for $10 ea. I highly recommend each and every one.

Here are a few fabulous facts for your shopping pleasure.

What is your vegan/cruelty free policy?
ILNP absolutely does not test our products on animals nor do we purchase materials from suppliers that do. We make a conscious effort to avoid purchasing animal/insect derived materials like carmine and guanine/pearl, etc. as there are plenty of synthetic alternatives that perform the same or even better.

Are your nail polishes 3-Free?
Yes! All ILNP nail polishes are 3 free! They DO NOT contain Toluene, Formaldehyde, or Dibutyl Phthalate.

What does 3-Free mean?
3-Free means that our nail polishes do not contain Toluene, Formaldehyde, or Dibutyl Phthalate. These 3 ingredients were previously used in most nail polish formulations until recent studies found them to be potentially harmful or irritable to humans. While these chemicals aren’t illegal to use in nail polish (although California law requires special labeling if used), most large brands have already moved to 3-Free formulas at the urge of educated consumers as well as organizations that campaign for safe cosmetics.”

Morgan Taylor Ooh LaLa collection is très jolie!

Morgan Taylor has nailed the sophisticated shades of French fashion with the new collection, Ooh LaLa. Oh the glitter, the glam! You’ll be on-trend and on-point wearing these four shades in any combination. They beg for nail art, from beginner to advanced, this palette will bring out the artist in you! Let’s take a look.

Bonjour mes amies! Presenting the Ohh LaLa collection of Morgan Taylor. Four gorgeous lacquers inspired by all thing fab, French and flirty! From left: Amour Color Please, Escar-Go To France, Postacards From Paris and Cancan We Dance?
Bonjour mes amies! Presenting the Ohh LaLa collection of Morgan Taylor. Four gorgeous lacquers inspired by all thing fab, French and flirty! From left: Amour Color Please, Escar-Go To France, Postacards From Paris and Cancan We Dance?

Now, I took over four years of French in school, and now that I’m “mature”, I’ve lost a lot of my French conversational linguistics…badly! But every now and then, I’ll hear a word or phrase and some of it comes floating back to my lips. But I won’t torture you. It’s a good thing you don’t have to hear me! Anyway, let’s begin with the most perfect formula! They are all good, but this petite beauté had me oohing and ahhing! Amour Color Please is perfect.

Amour Color Please is a bright berry fuscia creme with a whisper of blue flash. This is one coat, that's all you need! Perfect formula, very pigmented. Accented here with a bit of French whimsy and on the pinky, the glitter topper in the quad called Escar-Go To France.

Escar-Go To France is a sugary treat of multi pastels of complimentary colors to the whole collection. The added holographic silver sets it off perfectly. I love it over every shade in the set but over black, c’est magnifique!

Escar-Go To France is the perfectly complimentary glitter topper to the collection. The clear base is filled with multi-sized rounds and hexes from medium to small in pastels of tiffany blue, rosey pink, white, and holographic silver. One thin coat over any shade and super easy to remove, no glitter nightmares here!

Next up is Postcards From Paris. This very pigmented Tiffany creme just reminds me of springtime in Paris. I have a few shades like this, but this one is a much fresher shade.

Postcards From Paris is a gorgeous Tiffany turquoise creme. I used two coats and although it's very pigmented, the first coat was every so slightly streaky. But the second coat makes it just right. On the accent nail is the glitter topper, Escar-Go to France over black.

And to finish off this quartette of fanciful and classy bunch, is Cancan We Dance? She’s a bit more of a free spirit this one! How can she help it? 😉 Her iridescent blue flash, look like the petite coats of a dance girl.

Cancan We Dance? is an elegant blushing coral creme, with the same hint of blue flash as Amour Color Please. The formula is a bit thinner and did require two coats.

Bottom line: I loved the inspiration of this collection. It’s always easier to me when a collection has a common theme. But just as important is the fact that the formulas and unique shades have to grab me. These really did!
