ILNP 2015 Winter Collection sparkles!

I’m thrilled beyond reason! Why? Because Barbra from ILNP creates amazing collections and here we go with yet another set to add to your lacquer shelves. The ILNP 2015 Winter Collection ranges from a delicate pale golden sparkler to an in-your-face crimson showstopper. They are all available now! Here we go 🙂

I’ll start with Cozy Mittens. I was taking a photo in my well-lit office, then the sun came beaming through the window and showed me a whole new shine to this mani. So I have two photos of this one for you. Cozy Mittens will warm up your coldest winter day.

2 coats of Cozy Mittens. In this shot, well lit room. It is described as: “a perfectly soft and luxurious linear holographic nail polish accented with an array of gold flakes for a truly elegant finish. The super fine holographic particles used in Cozy Mittens give the finish of this nail polish an incredibly warm and silky feel to it. The primary color of Cozy Mittens is a light grey however, in certain types of lighting the added gold flakes really assert themselves and push the overall hue of the polish towards a soft champagne. You HAVE to see Cozy Mittens in the sun. It’s stunning!

Juliette is another pale beauty. But don’t let her tender pink fool you. It’s loaded with sparkle!

Two smooth coats of Juliette! It is described as: “an absolutely gorgeous Ultra Metallics™ holographic with a beautiful rose gold finish. The assortment of super thin metallic flakes in this polish will add an intensely reflective quality to your manicure. Home Sweet Home is a lovely pale lavender, loaded with holographic goodness.

My Private Rainbow (X). Paint a thin coat over any shade (I chose a dark blue) to rainbow it up!

1 thin coat of My Private Rainbow (X) over Zoya Ryan! MPR is described as: “the holographic top coat all of you serious holo connoisseurs have been waiting for! This top coat has just the right amount of super-vivid oversized holographic particles for an unbelievable scattered holographic finish. Sweater Weather will give you a warm fuzzy feeling. It’s gorgeous!

Sweater Weather in two coats. It’s described as: “a gorgeously cool petrol blue holographic nail polish. Not only is Sweater Weather precisely stuffed with holographic magic for the most perfect rainbow sparkle, it’s also loaded with a vividly cool ice-blue twinkle for a finish that compliments the season perfectly. Ski Lodge is a breathtaking pine green, on the mossy side with tons of shine. Wear this one when you hit the slopes! Just don’t blind anyone. 😉

Ski Lodge is a deep cozy green, 2 coats here. It’s described as: “a deep and dark mossy green holographic nail polish that’s truly unique! Showtime is indescribable! It’s juicy and sparkly and well, sort of like dessert!

ILNP Holiday Collection 2015…they will drop you in your tracks!

Today I get to share with you one of two new collections from ILNP Boutique Nail Lacquer…2015 Holiday Collection. And they are available now! Get your sunglasses ready because every one of these are so shiny, you may need to squint.

This one really took my breath away. Although Limelight in the Holiday collection, I think it will make a gorgeous summertime polish!

Oh my, I fell instantly in love with this brilliant lime green metallic! • Conclusion: No surprise here. I LOVE this whole collection. You may notice that most of my images are taken in different lighting and angles. I usually try to keep them consistent within a collection, but because of the different ways these each catch the light, I found it behooved me to think outside the box and just go with my instincts.

Flesh For Fantasy is described as alabaster nude. Naturally, it’s gorgeous on any skin tone but I am loving it for my neutral pale skin tone!

I can tell you, All About That Base (is 7-free) not only acts as a corrector and concealer (great for yellowed nails), it provides an amazing base to keep your painted nails looking their tip-top best longer. The Cuticle Oil is a necessity for all well-groomed fingertips and the Addicted to Speed Super Quick-Drying Top Coat provides a high shine option while protecting your mani from smears, smudges and scratches. I still hold the same Conclusion! I love the shades and finish of this set. I found a slight difference in the formulas. Although all are fully pigmented and each shade took 2 coats, I found the darker 3 polishes formulas to be better than the paler 3. I don’t think it’s my imagination as I’ve swatched many collections and sometimes because of the shade, it’s just going to HAVE to be different in application due to pigments. The first three shades, Flesh For Fantasy, Totally Nude and Born This Way were thicker and took a bit more finesse to apply without streaks on first coat, let fully dry then apply second. Second coats self levels and dried fully opaque and glossy. The last three (darker shades), Bare It All, Natural Woman and Skin Deep, were thinner (not thin) and struck a perfect balance of opacity and smooth application. Glossy on finish and great to apply. I had no trouble with the brushes in these petites, as they are full size brushes. Favorite shades were Bare It All and Skin Deep.

Zoya MatteVelvet Winter/Holiday collection

Today I’ll be reviewing the new (and available now) Zoya MatteVelvet Winter/Holiday 2015 collection. Let me preface by saying that these shades are completely different than the last collection…in case you were wondering! Zoya says, “The best-selling, MATTEVELVET finish returns this holiday season with six new shades. Each nail polish perfectly opaque, matte color with that extra special ZOYA MATTEVELVET fleck finish everyone loves.” Let’s take a look at what you’ll be wanting!

I’ll start with Aspen. She’s a clean, crisp, snowy white with the prettiest diamond pearl fleck. So hard to capture but believe me, she’s gorgeous!

Aspen, 2 coats, is described as: Aspen (ZP814) – a sparkling artic white with a micronized diamond pearl fleck.

Next is Amal, a classic crimson ruby-red. So perfect for the holidays!

Amal, 2 coats, is described as: Amal (ZP816) – a classic crimson red with a ruby red pearl fleck.

Honor is one of those essential greens for your holiday nailwear!

Honor, 2 coats, is described as: Honor (ZP819) – a true emerald green with a tone on tone emerald pearl fleck.

Iris is the perfect name for this regal amethyst purple.

Iris, 2 coats, is described as: Iris (ZP817) – a deep amethyst with a fuchsia pearl fleck.

Sue, she’s a delicate champagne gold with oyster pearl fleck. The sheerest of the bunch, so 2-3 coats will do the trick.

Sue, 2 coats, is described as: Sue (ZP815) – a soft champagne gold with a multi-hued oyster shell pearl fleck.

And last is Yves. A deep sapphire blue.

Yves, 1-2 coats, is described as: Yves (ZP818) – a deep sapphire that’s midway in between indigo and royal blue with a blue pearl fleck.

Conclusion: I always love the MatteVelvets and these shades for 2015 are all gorgeous. I can’t pick a favorite! But I DO love how Yves and Iris look on me. I want you to know they are all easy to apply and fairly quick drying. You can (although Zoya advises against it, see below) apply a gloss topcoat for a shiny look and it really brings out the hidden treasures of sparkle within. They suggest to apply a thin coat of the Matte Velvet Topcoat to retain the velvety appearance. They also suggest no base coat is needed. I will have to mention that I did leave Yves (the deep blue) on my bare nails overnight and experienced slight staining. That will go away, but I think a base coat on this one would have not allowed stains. Do not let this minor issue steer you away from experiencing lovely Yves!

NOTE: MATTEVELVET nail color by Zoya is not intended to be worn with a base coat, glossy top coat or speed dryer. Due to the unique matte formulation, color is not as long-wearing as traditional nail color. A completely clean, dry surface yields the best results for matte nail color wear. ILNP Fall Collection 2015…my final 3 reviews for this is complete!

Today I’ll be sharing the last three from the ILNP Fall 2015 Collection. Maiden Lane, First Class and Lulu. All these are available now for order! The whole collection has been a joy to swatch, wear and share with you. If you haven’t already ordered, I highly recommend each one. Let’s get right to it.

First up is First Class!

Next in line is Lulu. All these are so stunning and this, I just didn’t want to take it off!

Lulu is a gorgeous 2 coater. One of those deep and mysterious holos. It reminds me of a starry night sky. Love this one!

And the very last one, Maiden Lane. Makes me sort of sad, but hey, if I know ILNP’s creator, Barbra, she’s already in her lab thinking up new bottles of joy!

ILNP Fall 2015 swatches…and I’m on the home stretch!

I’m down to three ILNP Fall polishes after this and I’m ecstatic with today’s entry. Presenting Cameo (H), Clockwork and After Midnight. These are all different formulas and finishes so it was fun to mix it up today. Let’s see how different they are!

First up is Cameo (H), Cameo’s big sister. It’s a holographic version and the color shifts are nearly countless depending on angle, lighting and even the amount of coats used! I used 2 and it’s suggested 2-3.

Ultra Chromes by ILNP are amazing and Cameo (H) is the holo version of its sister, Cameo. And of course, you can’t just show one angle of these beauties because they are multi-shaded. Here in a shadier angle you can see shades of green, copper, gold and magenta.

Yes, same Cameo (H)…amazing huh?

Cameo (H) in sunlight or flash really lets that purple shine through.

Cameo (H) is described as, “a holographic version of the original Cameo Ultra Chrome polish! The new Cameo (H) contains just the right amount of holographic splendor to add a beautiful rainbow sparkle to the polish. All without ruining the intense color shift effect! Cameo (H) effortlessly shifts through an incredible array of vivid pink, purple, copper, gold, and a stunningly vibrant green. Quite similar to the Masquerade Ultra Chrome, Cameo (H) leans more pink and has an even stronger color shifting effect. Clockwork is perfect for fall, glitzy but very classy.

Clockwork is one of those classy metallics that really attract attention. Wear this baby and you won’t even feel like you need jewelry! 2 coats!

Clockwork is described as, “a jaw dropping bronze holographic with an extremely bright metallic finish. The assortment of metallic flakes coupled with a range of holographic particles, all dipped in a silky beige base, give Clockwork a truly unique combination of class and head turning vibrancy. ILNP Shoreline from the Summer 2015 Collection

I’m down to the wire with my last couple of swatches from the indie polish maker, ILNP Summer 2015 collection! I’m sorry I had to drag this out. The Summer release from ILNP was quite huge and I have been in the middle of a move this summer. And now the Fall Collection is rearing its gorgeous head so I have GOT TO get with it! Anyway, today I’m sharing a gorgeous metallic flake polish, opaque in two coats stunner called Shoreline by ILNP. Let’s take a look.

Shore line gave me fits trying to photograph her as I see her in real life. She is a beachy pale aqua and all I can say is, she changes! I used two coats. Here is how ILNP describes her. “Shoreline is definitely a statement polish!
Loaded with silver flakes and magical holographic sparkle, this delicate pale aqua shade is as exciting as they come! Look closely and you may even notice a bit of pink shimmer! Indoors and outdoors, Shoreline is pure magic.”

I think this could definitely be a crossover shade/finish in that it will be a frosty polish for mid-winter as well! It sells for $10 at ILNP here. ILNP! Here is a macro!

I reached full opacity in 2 coats, added a topcoat but it shines on its own. Look at those shards! Wow!

I’m giddy for Indigo Bananas Fall ’15 Holos

I’m super excited to present my first swatches and review for Indigo Bananas! I have three of the seven new Holo 2015 collection, available today, Aug. 19. Go order now 🙂 Here is a little background first on the founder, Andrea.

Los Angeles based handmade indie nail polish brand Indigo Bananas was founded by Andrea in 2013. She is a trained biologist with prestigious backgrounds such as UCLA and Princeton! In a word, Andrea truly IS the brain behind the science of Indigo Bananas. She may be a science chick, but holy cow, she’s got this lacquer thing nailed down. Oh, and IB also sells cuticle balms. Brilliant!

Without further ado, here are the three beauties I have to show you today.

I have three of the seven Fall holos for 2015 available for order now! From left, Polish of Unusual Quality (P.O.U.Q.), Synonym Bun, and Rhythm & Booze.

First up is Polish of Unusual Quality (P.O.U.Q.).
IB describes Polish of Unusual Quality (P.O.U.Q.) as, “This is a Polish of Unusual Quality (P.O.U.Q.), a red of unusual shine, a color you were pretty sure didn’t exist…until it launched itself at your nails. Top coat optional.

**Slightly brighter flame with most top coats** Multiple thinner coats tend to give stronger and deeper holographic effects.”

Base color: magenta / dark fuschia
Finish: linear holographic
Roughness: smooth
# coats: two medium, two-three thin
Top Coat: optional, a bit more holo flash with top coat
Staining: should not stain – base coat recommended
Size: 15ml or 8ml (pulldown menu options)
Vegan & cruelty free: yes
3-Free (formaldehyde, toluene, DBP free): yes

Polish of Unusual Qualty (R.O.U.Q.) Two coats, no flash here, no topcoat but wowza is she shiny!

2 coats of R.O.U.Q. taken with a flash. You can see she doesn’t need a topcoat, you could, but not really needed.

Next is Synonym Bun. She’s a rare beauty because the color takes on a fiery glow when topcoat is added. Either way, you’ll love this fall femme fatale. I have shots here of with and without topcoat, with and without flash.

IB describes Synonym Bun as, “Synonym Bun – say what? a synonym pun? Delicious! Warm reddish brown linear holo with a strong flame. Two coats is opaque, but three for a stronger holo and deeper color is recommended.”

**Important notes**:
* Top coat changes the tone and holographic effect of this polish, to a deeper and more reddish-brown color and a glowy/toned down holographic effect. There is a good holographic effect with and without top coat. It’s a polish with two effects! 🙂
* This polish did not stain my nails, nor have the component pigments, however it contains colorants that have the possibility of staining, so one coat of base coat is recommended for wear longer than a day.

Base color: deep red-brown

Roughness: smooth
# coats: two medium, two-three thin
Top Coat: optional, see notes above
Staining: should not stain – base coat recommended

Synonym Bun is all kinds of spicey shine, no matter how you wear her.

2 coats of Synonym Bun without topcoat, just as stunning and super shiny, less red shimmer.

2 coats of Synonym Bun with topcoat, no flash, but wow, she’s a blushing brown beauty!

2 coats of Synonym Bun with topcoat, shot with flash. Sexy brown with fiery flashes. Wow!

And third, a sexy purple holo, perfect for fall in every way, Rhythm & Booze.

IB describes Rhythm & Booze as, “a purple (warm leaning) linear holographic with a bright blue flame. Two coats for coverage, but three coats gives a stronger holographic flame and deeper color. Top coat optional. Multiple thinner coats tend to give stronger and deeper holographic effects.”

Base color: purple, warm leaning
Finish: linear holographic
Roughness: smooth
# coats: two medium, two-three thin
Top Coat: optional
Staining: should not stain – base coat recommended

2 smooth coats of Rhythm & Booze, all that shine will make you sing!

Here is a shot of Rhythm & Booze with flash. Look at that holo sparkle!

Overall, even though I don’t have the other four polishes from this collection, I can absolutely guarantee you these all have identical downright perfect formulas. All perfectly opaque in two coats. Application couldn’t get any better, and I had virtually NO CLEANUP to my cuticle areas. None! It glides on like silk and dries quickly, but plenty of time to get the job done. This is how holo is done girls! I highly recommend this collection and I can’t wait to try more of Indigo Bananas lacquers. Now here are the fun facts, links and more. Pt. 1 Zoya Focus collection for Fall 2015

It’s finally here. You know summer is on its way out when Zoya introduces their fall collection. Focus (six transitional cremes) & Flair (six jewel toned metallics) are here for 2015 and they are stunning.

Today I’ll be reviewing Focus and stay tuned for the second half, Flair.

The Focus collection for fall 2015 consists of six highly pigmented buttery smooth cremes. Available now for pre-order at http://www.zoya.com.

Sia is a must-have deep blue creme. Let me say that although these colors are familiar to some you may already have, what sets them apart is how pigmented they are and smooth they apply.

“Sia by can be best described as a true, royal blue cream. Please note: This is a highly pigmented shade.” Make sure to apply a base coat to prevent staining. 1 Coat, super creamy.

Lidia is the quintessential eggplant that is perfect for fall.

“Lidia by can be best described as a rich eggplant cream that has a blackened purple base and just a hint of red to make it more wearable for all skin tones.” 2 coats, almost like a crelly application!

Janel is a warm toned red, and it reminds me of a comfy sweater!

“Janel by can be best described as a deep red cream that has a warm undertone. 1-2 coats.” I used 2 to deepen the shade.

Hannah is the other red in this collection and I wondered at first, why two reds in the same collection of cremes. But when you apply it this stunning red is completely different in tone. It’s just plain flashier!

“Hannah by can be best described as a clear, classic red cream with a balanced (neutral) undertone.” 2 coats, thinner than the rest, smooth application but need greater care loading brush to avoid pooling.

Desiree is a deep rich brown and even though I have several Zoya brown tones, I don’t have one quite this rich.

“Desiree can be best described as a classic sable brown cream that has just enough gray to keep it cool in tone.” One AMAZING hyper-pigmented coat of this creme wonder. Application is so easy, love this!

And last of the Focus collection is Charli. It reminds me of wet dark cement in shade and the formula is perfect! Fabulous!

“Charli can be best described as a dusty taupe cream that has a hint of green, but is still a perfect neutral.” Just like Desiree, this is on the thicker side and oh, so pigmented. One super easy coat!

ILNP Ultra Holos Summer 2015…2nd installment!

I know these are a tad slow in coming onto my blog. I have all the new ILNP polishes to be released for pre-order on June 12th and I’m presenting the swatches to you two at a time. #1 because I want to tempt you and keep you guessing? lol Maybe. #2 Well, I’m deep, deep in the middle of sprucing up our home to get it ready for sale, and I’m up to my eyeballs in yardwork and packing! First up is 1Up! I hate to sound like a broken record, but these are simply PERFECT formulas and for me, required O cleanup. Man, smooth as butta.

This Ultra Holo called 1Up is a super holographic lime green, slightly on the warmer side of the spectrum and stunning for any time of year! 2 coats here.

Ahhh, Love this green holo! 1Up is the kind of green holo you’ll want to wear and wear. A must have shade for your holo collection.

I love I See You! It’s a glorious champagne with lots of pop!

This Ultra Holo called I See You is a delicate deep champagne, sublte and neutral, yet full of heart stopping holo! This is 2 coats.

I See You may look shy and mysterious, but wait until you see it on your nails! It’s like pale golden sands of the Pacific!
