Four sparklers from Alchemy Lacquers

I finally got a chance to become a “lab assistant” today for Alchemy Lacquers. The four lab samples I’m presenting are what I categorize as “Blingity bling bling”! Each one having it’s own character, texture and personality. They are Night Fire, Kelpie Seaweed, Gilded Lagoon and Delphinium.

First we’ll start with this glowing beauty, Night Fire. The finished texture sort of reminds me of a cross between the new Magical Pixie dusts and Bubbly polishes from Zoya, just a smidge smoother, but with all of the shine.

Night Fire is a nearly neon pink in a pink base, with pink glitters, holographic sparkle and it screams, "Look at me, I'm fancy!"

I included photos in outdoor shade and sun for each of these polishes today so you could see how the light plays a part of their personalities.

I found the formula on the medium thick side as to be expected with a glitter loaded jelly, but totally manageable. Two coats and you’re done for a shiny textured finish. Add a topcoat like Gelous for a smooth look. This is a soon-to-be released item.

Next comes a mysterious green stunner from the Alchemical Imaginarium: Water Fae Collection, Kelpie Seaweed. It’s described as “…A darkened linear holographic nail lacquer with a green, blue, violet multichrome finish. Often found in the lochs of the Green Isles, Kelpies are actually shape shifting water horses. The majestic white horses with striking blue manes can take human form, and when they do, you can always identify theme by their hair, which as a very rare ingredient, seaweed!”

Kelpie Seaweed took me by surprise.

The first coat had me a bit concerned as it was on the thick side as loaded with micro glitters as it was. It was a tad tricky to apply the first coat but dried quickly. The second coat filled in perfectly and all was right with the world! Beautiful!

Oh my! My fave of the bunch, soon-to-be released Gilded Lagoon. It looked gorgeous in the bottle so I was pretty jazzed about this one. It has those dreamy mermaidy colors I love, plus gold.

If anyone knows where I can find the actual Gilded Lagoon, let me know. If it looks like this, I'm in!

Gilded Lagoon is opaque in two coats and sparkles like nobody’s business!

And lastly we have Delphinium. Just like the flower, a gorgeous blue. This is one I struggled with. It’s very thick and the first coat did not cooperate with me. Two coats will do it and I found that it’s easier for the first coat in bypassing a base coat. Two coats is plenty with a coat of Gelous in between. The pretty payoff is worth the work. So I mushed on. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Delphinium, hard to pronounce, easy on the eyes.

She really sparkles in the sunshine. Definitely an attention getter.

Even in the shade, the tiny blue glitters are so densely packed, each coat, two is plenty, will just add more bling.

I especially love reading indie polish makers’ back stories of how they got started, what inspired them, and how supportive their families are in their endeavors. Be sure to hop over to Rebecca’s “About” page while you’re shopping at her Etsy store. It’s a great little read!

Alchemy Lacquers are 5 free, cruelty free, hand-mixed nail lacquers, all handmade to order out of Rebecca’s lab in Philedelphia, Pennsylvania.
