I’m glad I saved back beautiful Nichole by Shimmer Polish for this Labor Day weekend mani. It just fit right in! I don’t have much planned except for yard work. So why not have my nails all stylin’ just in case we do something fun?
Nichole is described as, “Glitter, squares, circles, hex, dot, shimmer, holographic, nail polish, Silver, sea foam green, nail lacquer, cyan, blue.”
And of course, you need to see her up close.
I hope you enjoyed this little inspiration. 🙂 Have a great Labor Day weekend and be safe. If you can’t find something fun to do, buy polish!
Let me start off by saying, I’m a sucker for purple. Add to that sparklies and I turn into a heaping pile of gelatin. When I saw Shimmer Polish’s Caroline, I quite audibly gasped. Lol, no hope for me! Look at her! Two thin coats over a medium lavender base, but two medium coats and she could shine on her own as well.
Shimmer describes Caroline as, “Glitter, squares, circles, hex, dot, shimmer, holographic, nail polish, gold, Purple, Plum, Fuschia, nail lacquer.” Here she is up close…
What purple polish lovin’ girl wouldn’t want this beauty on their shelf?
Get this stunner and you’ll be singing, “Sweet Caroline, good times never seemed so good…”
From the first glance of the Zoya Ignite Collection for Fall 2014 I knew at least most of the shades would end up finding a home on my shelf. So far I have four from the Ignite collection and as I swatch each one you’ll see my review here. I’ll start out with beautiful Remy!
Note: For full disclosure here, I am not (yet) on Zoya’s blogger/reviewer program and I have bought all my collection with my own money. So far 93 bottles! And Zoya if any of your Pixies find themselves perusing this blog, my nails are here for your swatching pleasure! 😉 Now on with the review.
When I first saw her, Remy reminded me so much of Charla, in the bottle, that I nearly overlooked her. That would have been a huge mistake and I need to remind myself that Zoya will not dupe their shades and go to great lengths to prove it. Remy is in a deeper, sultrier base for one thing. I wore her for nearly five days with no tip wear and get this, no staining! Amazing. Don’t get me wrong, I love Charla to the moon and back, but she also stains the crap out of my nails if I don’t wear a good base coat. Charla is gorgeous, and definitely different that Remy so if you’re on the fence about Remy, take a breath, grab your wallet and get it! Here she is in all her glory.
Remy is described by Zoya as, “a brilliant indigo with copper and gold liquid metallic.” A warm toned, very opaque and perfect formula, I only needed one coat. Here she is in the sun!
I can’t wait to share the others in the Ignite collection as I get them. Zoya never fails to satisfy and innovate. I’m also looking forward to trying the Entice collection…so fall appropriate without looking tired and washed out. I tend to have a hard time letting go of summer and these are more like Indian Summer shades in my view. Perfect. Gorgeous!
You can find Zoya’s vegan 5-free lacquers at http://www.zoya.com, as well as stores like Ulta and many salons.
All opinions are my own, and I purchased this product for my own use. I was not compensated in any way.
When I heard the description of the newest addition to the indie brand, Chloe & Bella, I was intrigued. Then I saw a sample and Barbara told me shed like me to swatch it and after I picked myself up off the floor, well…read on!
Nothing can really prepare you for this kind of beauty. It’s a perfect name and I’m telling you the formula is astounding. Glides on like a dream, good coverage in one coat or opaque in 2-3 depending iron your technique. You can apply it over your bare nail, or as a topcoat over a color. I just used it alone. Here she is in the bottle.
Titanium is described at “super-sparkly and shiny…you can ALMOST see your reflection in it. This is not a glitter polish. Titanium is infused with super-shiny silver covered flakes that give it a shine that will knock your socks off! Primarily silver with a hint of gold.”
This stunner sells for $11.95. Worth every blingy penny! And I might mention Titanium is not difficult to remove. Here it is up close, so hard to capture so in case you were wondering what it looks like in the sun, go to my Instagram profile (user name @lacqueredlori so add me and browse my photos!) 🙂 and you’ll find a video of it in the sunshine!
This will be short and sweet, but I had to share with you this delightful couple. I love using El Porto, a perfect white canvas for any nail art. And I’ve been wanting to do another water marble anyway. Here I used this plush purply periwinkle called Catalina.
All you need to do is lay a medium coat of your base color then immediately drip on a few dots of your marbling color, then lightly swirl, with a fine dotting tool, brush or stick. If you make a mistake, no worries. Reprint when dry and start over! Finish with a clear topcoat when your colors are totally dry. Voila! Here are the two colors I used. I’ve be asked to post a tutorial for this look so I promise you when I get time, I’ll edit this post and display the photos here on this blog post.
As with all the other Cult Cosmetic, the formulas are primo.
Cult lacquers are premium, 5-FREE, Vegan, cruelty-free single coat polishes and makeup products. None of their polishes are animal tested and they are made in California, USA.
Here are some more gorgeous and versatile glitters from Shimmer Polish. First up, Erica can be opaque in two medium coats or lathered in one as I did over one coat of any base. I used it over a pastel iridescent green. I accented this mani with a simple little dotticured nail. Here is lovely Erica!
Erica is described as, “Glitter, squares, circles, hex, dot, shimmer, holographic, nail polish, Silver, sea foam green, nail lacquer, cyan, blue.”
And here she is up close!
Next up is Carol. What can I say but holy moly she’s a stunner! I’m really warming up to browns this summer. Maybe because I’m ready for some fall shades. As with all the other glorious Shimmer polishes, these formulas go on smooth as silk.
Carol is described as, “Glitter, squares, circles, hex, dot, shimmer, holographic, nail polish, gold, tarnished gold, light gold, copper, nail lacquer.”
And here is this captivating beauty up close!
Well girls, that’s it for today. I’ll have more Shimmers coming your way in the next few weeks. I never tire of doing these swatches. When the formulas are this superb, it’s a joy!
I am so excited to share these next four lovely polishes from the indie brand, Madam Glam. As I was pondering our next season’s color trends, I figured why not set my sights in that direction with some of the more autumn-like shades.
First is Silver Sand…Silver Sand is very much the same kind of formula as Family Secret/ Pretty much mistake proof. A shimmery pewter heavily flecked with tons of super micro silver shimmer.
Next we have More Wine Please…More Wine Please is a gorgeous glossy red that has vamp written all over it. Slightly on the thin side but highly pigmented. Just avoid flooding the brush and you’ll do just fine. Two coats and you’ll be on your way to a mani that looks like you dipped your digits in a fine bordeaux.
I am smitten with Over Glam…I will never get over this stunner and from the first coat I was in love with this nearly foil like finish. It’s a pretty pink micro glitter (but all these are a breeze to remove, not like regular glitters) that shines like nobody’s business in the sun. So I included a photo here to show you how this sparkles.
And I just had to show you Over Glam in the sun!
And this oh-so-fall-like warm and fuzzy, Family Secret…Family Secret is nearly a one coater, great formula, highly pigmented, dream to apply. just the right sparkle in what looks like menlted chocolate sauce with gold shimmer.
Verdict. I LOVE these four polishes! I normally prefer shorter, wider brushes, but since these formulas were all so exceptional, I had no problems with application. All took two coats. The wine shade is luxurious, and the metallics are perfect!
